Last night, Hargeisa Debates hosted representatives from the three political parties @MYKAAHPARTY , @XISBIGAKULMIYE, and @WaddaniP for a discussion on their role in Somaliland’s political stability, state-building, social cohesion, and democratic development.
Yesterday at Hargeisa Debates, we held a critical discussion on the 27-month legislative term extension, its impact on parliamentary and local elections, and the urgent need for proper preparations to safeguard democratic integrity.
This afternoon, Hargeisa Debates hosted “Tradition or Democracy?”
Concerns were raised over elders influencing elections—especially the Hargeisa mayoral race. The message was clear: the Constitution and democratic principles must come first.
Hargeisa Debates hosted a powerful discussion on “Competence Over Connections,” highlighting the need for qualified leadership in Somaliland’s public institutions. Thanks to our guests and engaged audience!
We’re bringing together leading voices to challenge how political appointments are made in Somaliland. Join us for a timely discussion on why competence, not connections must shape institutional leadership. Be part of the conversation on March 27 at Hargeisa Debates.
Yesterday, Hargeisa Debates hosted an inspiring and dynamic discussion on “NextGen Governance: Inclusive Youth Leadership in Modern Democracy,” in partnership with @hbsHornOfAfrica
The government in Somalia is currently facing a moment of unprecedented internal collapse. Deep divisions have surfaced across the Parliament, various ministries, and the administration, specifically fueled by the intensifying debate over Somaliland’s recognition.
We have a strategic window to act. It is essential that we mobilize now to amplify the reality of this chaos. By highlighting the infighting and institutional incompetence, we can ensure the message is clear: the current leadership is crumbling.
Let’s stay focused and coordinated
