🚨 SURPRISE VISIT | Jinja City 🇺🇬

On Tuesday the Hon. State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, @MercyLakiskis conducted an unannounced surprise visit to a school in Jinja City on the critical issue of corporal punishment affecting children in schools. 💙

This was a collective effort bringing together District Officials, Uganda Police, the PSWO and the @sauti116 team from the Department of Youth and Children Affairs @Mglsd_UG .

During the visit the Minister

📢 Listened directly to students and victims
🏫 Engaged teachers and school administration
🤝 Held discussions with district authorities and key stakeholders

The Ministry of Health, together with UNICEF are currently engaging Government Communication Officers on Public Health Emergencies. The aim of this meeting is to strengthen preparedness and response through effective risk communication.

Officers are being equipped with knowledge and practical skills to communicate better as one government before, during, and after public health emergencies.

The Ebola Bundibugyo Virus Disease Incident Commander Dr. Atek Kagirita has this morning updated the officers on the status of the Outbreak and confirmed to them that the situation is under control.
