It’s a shame Better Man didn’t connect with audiences. The choice to portray Robbie Williams as a chimp confused many viewers and hurt the film’s promotion, even though it’s essential to the story it tells.
One of the last great movie musicals.
I was recently floored by a line of dialogue in a children’s book—“We don’t ignore bigotry, Jack. That’s how cowardly bigots turn into brave bigots”—if you were wondering why children’s books are important, and why there has been so much concerted effort to ban them.
Exhausted by all of the existential doom of the news? Read a children's book. They are filled with magic, with joy, with hope. You can visit everywhere from Wonderland to Busytown. You can become friends with hobbits, Anne Shirley, Pippi Longstocking or Paddington Bear.
The opposite is true: we need to move a lot of people in low productivity roles (aka 'bullshit jobs') in the private sector into high productivity roles in government (aka 'essential workers')
“I like the way I look because I’m a good person.”
During yesterday’s #Oscars, @ConanOBrien, @AdamSandler and @RealChalamet reminded everyone what really matters in this world.
Thank you for being good people supporting good people💙💛
Germany, Slovenia, Canada, Romania, Austria, Spain, France, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Moldova, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Czech Republic, Finland, Portugal & Croatia have all supported Ukraine today.
The US is on the wrong side of history.
Nee.
We are Americans.
We are the most powerful nation on the planet.
What defines us is not our power to dominate the weak.
What demonstrates our character is not our capacity to traumatize the afflicted.
What speaks our truth is not how we taunt, deride or belittle the embattled, broken or battered.
We are:
The country of the Marshall Plan
The nation of The Berlin Airlift
The nation whose leader said, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
We are at our best when we are resolute against evil -- not when we kowtow to those who perpetrate it.
We tell our truth when we defend the weak -- not when we do it only if we get protection money.
We are America when our leaders call the dictators dictators and those who fight to defend democracy against tyranny what they are: heroes.
Donald Trump and JD Vance didn't show strength today -- they showed weakness.
They belittled a giant and showed just how small they are.
They have the most vaunted titles in the world: President and Vice President of The United States of America. But the title doesn't make the man. And today both men brought shame to their titles.
A weary warrior was before them. A beleaguered man who has lost thousands of his friends and comrades to the unjust and illegal aggression of an authoritarian leader.
They showed no grace; no magnanimity of spirit; no diplomatic acumen. They were small bullies with big titles and they disrespected the history and legacy of the nation they lead.
Today, Donald Trump acted more like Russia's Putin than America's President.
We knew it, but seeing the data laid out – it's still shocking: higher taxes for most, deep cuts to Medicaid & SNAP—all to fund tax breaks for the top 1%.
It's difficult to fully grasp the scale of the con being perpetrated on Americans right now by the Trump administration.

A Message to Elon Musk @elonmusk and DOGE from a Mother of a boy named Max.
Please at least give it a read and reconsider haphazardly freezing funding on important government programs:
"Elon, this perfect little boy is my son Max. He's not a parasite. He's pure joy. Love radiates from him, and he has a smile for everyone he meets. He was born with a rare genetic form of leukodystrophy called TBCD that is usually fatal by five years of age.
We were filled with hope when the researcher our patient advocacy group has been working with at Nationwide Children's Hospital was awarded with an R01 grant from the NIH after our community pooled our resources to fund the first phase of her research to apply for it. Last year, she showed us some of her work in the lab that PROVED there was a pathway to a treatment.
It was just a few cells in a dish. My son's neural cells -- cured.
Right now, her funds are frozen. The grant that was providing hope for a future for these children with a condition so rare that private pharma would never have any interest in creating a treatment is what you're fighting to slash funding for. You might as well be slashing my kid's throat.
Any delay in bringing this from the bench to the bedside WILL kill children in our community - and you're laughing on X and calling them parasites?
Shame on you."
