Why Do Crypto Markets Trade 24/7?
Writing
One question I hear from beginners is: "Why is Bitcoin still moving when the stock market is closed?"
The answer comes down to how these markets are built.
Traditional stock exchanges usually operate during fixed business hours. When the exchange closes for the day or a public holiday, trading pauses until it reopens.
Cryptocurrency markets work differently. Because they operate across a decentralized global network rather than relying on a single central exchange with fixed trading hours, buying and selling can continue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
That doesn't mean the market behaves the same all the time. Activity, liquidity, and volatility can change depending on where participants are active around the world. A quiet Sunday may look very different from a busy weekday, even though the market never officially "closes."
Understanding this difference helped me see that crypto isn't just another version of the stock market—it follows a different market structure with its own characteristics.
The more you understand how these markets operate, the easier it becomes to interpret price movements without making assumptions.

@DSKkhanii Crypto runs on decentralized blockchain networks that stay active around the clock.
There is no single central exchange controlling trading hours.
