$34 million in taxpayer money went to ineligible projects, and now the Carney Liberals say they won’t even try to get it back. At a time when Canadians count every dollar at the grocery store and the gas pump, they deserve better than this blatant disregard for the money they work so hard to earn.

The Auditor General also found nearly $76 million was tied to 90 funding decisions where conflict-of-interest rules were not followed. Later, the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee unanimously called on the government to recover the money.

Two years later, the Liberals say pursuing recovery of $34 million would not be “in the public interest.” Conservatives will continue to fight for accountability for all Canadians, fight waste and misuse of taxpayer dollars, and make sure Canadians’ hard-earned money is treated with the respect it deserves.

For years, Canada's Liberals attacked conservatives and Pierre Poilievre for wanting to increase our oil production telling us we don't know how to build an economy even though they gave us a lost decade, claiming peak oil, and telling our allies there is no business case.
