Think about it like this:

Often times atheists will say something like, “if God exists why are there wars and genocides?”

The Christian response is that God gave man free will. And the reason why that is such a good counter is because without free will, there is no such thing as good. If God programmed all of us to only do good and we had no choice then we wouldn’t actually be doing good. We would just be doing what we are programmed to do. If I hold a gun to your head and force you to help an old lady across the street, can you be said to have done a nice thing? No! You had no choice.

It’s not that liberty is the highest good. It’s that good is not possible without liberty. It’s a prerequisite.

Would it be better for liberty in CT if

1. The CT House was one representative per 1000 (minimum one per town) and only 10% of those are permitted to go to Hartford for committee work and no individual can be sent to Hartford more than one term every 20 years. The other 90% stay in their districts and vote and work remotely (elections are with Proportional RCV.)

And

2. The CT Senate is one Senator per town (169 total)

The US Navy can defend the shores of the US for a tenth of what is currently spent. The US Army, including the Marines, can be disbanded entirely and the State Militias can be charged with defending the union in the incredibly unlikely case of an invasion. The US Air Force can be merged with the Navy.

$100 billion for National *DEFENSE* at most. Likely less is needed.
