The last place I worked was a little bit toxic generally to staff but when it comes to patient care, they tried their best.
The HNS did what he could do best to ensure that the nurses are equipped to deliver world class care.
There was training and retraining, tried as much as possible to ensure they had necessary consumables to care for patient.
By the time they do leave there to start practicing in another country, it wont be everything that would be new to the nurses there.
Are they overworked yes, but are they also building the skills yes.
I learnt to formulate policies, sharpened my skills, I’m always reading (mostly because I knew where I was going).
If they can prioritize staff well being, with the equipment they have, they will be one leading health care in the country.
For every time they said, “PEOPLE DON’T PASS THAT EXAM”, i go in there and represent Nigeria and my family at the big stage.
