We finally got to apply all that we’ve learned about force, motion, potential and kinetic energy, velocity, and friction in our science roller coaster lab today! @DiscoveryAPS
Our 4th graders produced so many greens in our @DiscoveryAPS hydroponic garden! We had enough to serve in our cafeteria for the next two weeks AND we were able to donate a full, large cooler of greens to an organization (@ASPANlink) we care deeply about @ForkFarms#dogoodfeelgood
@ForkFarms couldn’t have made it easier. The straight-forward grow guides and videos helped us learn SO much in so little time. Because of this, we were able to start planting this week, much sooner than we thought! @DiscoveryAPS#APSgreen
We’ve learned about plants, their parts, and their needs by working in our outdoor garden. We’ve researched large scale farming and hydroponic farming. This week, after a quarter packed with learning, we were FINALLY able to get started on our hydroponic system @DiscoveryAPS
Anyone have any decomposing pumpkins? We would love it if you could drop it off either at the compost pile in our Discovery garden OR at Earth Products Yard!
Give last night's Jack-o’-lantern new life—drop it off for composting! Saturday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Earth Products Yard (4300 29th St S). The @ArlingtonDES Solid Waste Bureau will use the organic results in parks and other landscaping. https://t.co/9HagpSeFAc
On Green Day yesterday, 4th graders cleaned up our campus to keep trash from entering our watershed. They also completed the @EcoSchoolsUSA audit by testing the pH level and temperature of the soil and water in our schoolyard habitat. @GreenSchoolsNN@DiscoveryAPS#APSgreen
...aaand we got to touch, feel, and smell a fresh lot of compost so that we know what to expect when the browns and greens in our own compost pile have broken down. We mixed this “black gold” into our raised garden beds. Tomorrow, we plant! #apsgreen@DiscoveryAPS
Today, we started our very own compost pile in our @DiscoveryAPS garden. Students brought in “greens” from home and searched for “browns” around our campus. #apsgreen@GreenSchoolsNN@MsWilliamsArt @WinesinvaReads
Before, during, and after. Check out our amazing, nutrient-rich garden beds! Ready for our 4th graders to get composting and planting next week! Thanks for the inspiring seminar this summer, @JennySeydel #happyplantlady@DiscoveryAPS @jvincent_aps @GreenSchoolsNN
