@Miss_Thompson22 I did not know community gardens were a thing. Such a cool concept, I don’t know if there are any community gardens in Tamworth but I know a lot of schools have a school garden in the area!
@Miss_Thompson22 @WeAreTeachers Wow these are such cool resources to use. Love the posters! They would make being safe look fun in the classroom. The stickers could be used for a sticker chart on being hygienic!
@Miss_Thompson22 I agree with year 3 as well. It might sounds young to some but in reality we don’t know what these children could be exposed to either at home or in public. 😬
@Miss_Thompson22 @YouTube Yes absolutely! I always have fruit for crunch and sip, I try to have a healthy wrap or sandwich loaded with yummy vegetables and meat and for a snack I often have some greek yoghurt with berries!
Wellbeing: Healthy Habits for Children. This would be a great introductory video to get students thinking about what effects our well-being. Healthy eating has a lot to do with how we feel both physically and mentally. #UoNTeach https://t.co/QNAa8aTmi3 via @YouTube
@Miss_Thompson22 Not only does it create partnerships with schools but it also give students that real life connection and they know that their learning is authentic!
The involvement of the community is such an asset to both the students and their families. The unit that I will be doing will involve multiple community businesses as well as parents #UoNTeach#SDG3 https://t.co/8XbsvIZvb7
@Miss_Thompson22 @kaneshamurray_ Absolutely love this idea! Why not make some of the posters we hang on our walls benefit our health. Children can be so influenced by advertisements so lets advertise whats good for them!
@Miss_Thompson22 I think community involvement in units of work makes it so much more engaging for young learners. I will be involving community in my classroom by using resources from local businesses and using people in the community to come and watch presentations or speak to learners!
@Miss_Thompson22 Yes I believe that spiritual and emotional dimensions should also be included, they are absolutely factors of being human being and they certainly affect our health!
What is health? Health is “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” - WHO, 1948. Should this definition mention the spiritual and emotional dimensions of health also? #UoNTeach#SDG3

@ShaneAnnabel1 How great is De Bono's thinking hats! I even love the idea of using coloured hats or having coloured tokens (for older years) so the students remember to use each style of thinking!
A very important step to always include in cooking lessons or when handling food. I will also do a lesson on the importance of washing hands and we will create our own poster as a class. #UoNTeach#foodhandling
It is so important to stop the spread of contagious illnesses, especially within the classroom! I will be displaying this poster in my classroom, reminding students when it’s important to wash their hands! #SDG3#uonteach#educ4750
@kaneshamurray_ Wow thanks for sharing! So scary that 51% of parents expect it will be harder to provide healthy food for their families in years to come 😳
Breakfast clubs could be adapted during a stage 3 unit on #healthyeating. The stage 3 students could design new and improved healthy breakfast ideas that the other students could help make at breakfast club each morning! #UoNTeach#SDG3
A toast to the Breakfast Club! 🍞
Student leaders and staff from @SpeersPointPS prepare and serve breakfast twice a week.
Is your family team toast or team cereal?

Such a scary figure and such a hard fix. At school we can’t control students exposure to online advertisements at home but we can teach students what foods we don’t need and what foods fuel us to be healthy and active #healthyeating#UoNTeach
Total online junk food advertising restrictions are key to the Govt's Obesity Strategy. Helping children to be healthier by removing 12.5 BILLION calories each year - equal to 62 MILLION doughnuts! 👏

@MissCary24@YouTube Yes I love the links to indigenous culture! Recipe books is such a good idea. Students would love documenting their own creations or family favourites!
A really interesting program that would be awesome to roll out in rural schools for the whole schooling community. #UoNTeach#healthyeating Bulgarr Ngaru Fruit and Veg Program NSW https://t.co/fHGCmkp9vN via @YouTube

Kids’ wellbeing is a combination of their physical, mental, emotional and social health. Have a look at these 5 practices that can enhance children’s #wellbeing. #UoNTeach https://t.co/UtDU69K3Wf
In order to get students to seperate their thinking into clear functions and roles encourage them to wear one hat a time so they are able to think of all possible outcomes. See this website for more detail on De Bono’s #thinkinghats#UoNTeach https://t.co/GxXxyoX1X7
Does your school have a bush tucker garden? There are so many different ingredients that can be used in cooking that are often grown in schools! #UoNTeach#SDG3 https://t.co/zv2ni5qsJ5
