@Will29740168 This theory is a great approach to group work. You can also effectively manage groups through regularly monitoring progress and providing feedback. I have found it has worked great for my students
@Will29740168 They are a great resource. My class used them in a science lesson to see how fertile our school soils were. They were very engaged throughout
@teacher12111767 by learning how to spell the word and by looking at the definition they will have a better understanding of the word and how to use it within their work
#biodiversity has been the focus this week. It has been included in spellings lists, along with activities so students can have a better understanding about what it means and how it is affected globally.

@teacher12111767 Definitely! Many KLAs can be linked to a variety of activities, making it more relevant to the students and allowing them to make them connections for themselves
Thanks for sharing. This is such a good idea and needs to be implemented globally to lower the worlds pollution and plastic in the ocean. Students can recreate this/ make their own #sustainable straw or utensil of choice #UoNTeach#Educ4750#SDG14
This is so true! Thanks for sharing. As a teacher it is our role to do everything we can to support and help our students, they also are the leaders of their own education. Students can be their own teacher with just a little bit of encouragement and guidance. #UoNTeach#Educ4750
I love to use #inquirybasedlearning in my classroom for these reasons! Students are so engaged when they are empowered by their teachers to take responsibility for their own learning. #UoNTeach#Educ4750
@teacher12111767 To be completely plastic free is a big ask, particularly in a classroom with lots of children running around but we are certainly on our way there! Our goal as a class is to be mostly plastic free 80% of the time by the end of the year
A great question that isn’t spoken about enough. Plastic is such a big part of life, we all need to start looking at more sustainable materials. #uonteach#Educ4750#SDG14
When was the first plastic bottle created?
For many of us, and our students, plastic bottles have always existed. We haven't experienced a life without them. Discover the history of plastic bottles below! #SDG14 https://t.co/gk8dy49mUg
@teacher12111767 It would be a great resource to use in an introduction for the whole class to see, but even within the exploration time students can use it as a resource for their own research
Our Planet website offers resources for schools and young people: https://t.co/Yeq5YPN9jQ and Our Coastal Seas Explorative Map: https://t.co/megbEERbiH
"There can be no greater legacy than giving young people the tools they need to save our planet.”
- Sir David Attenboroug.✨💕
David Attenborough is always a must for our class. This video is informative on the overfishing disaster that is occurring in the world. What can we do to help? #Educ4750#UoNTeach#SDG14 https://t.co/0e8mMoczVo
The WWF website has great information on overfishing, the species most impacted, the impacts on the ecosystems, causes and how you can help. A really useful website to look through as a class and for student research. https://t.co/1F6GZWOUUs #uonteach#Educ4750#SDG14
@teacher12111767 We have been watching documentaries in class during free time, along with in science. Students are so fascinated with them. Students are learning to take notes as we watch to then refer back to when completing activities
@teacher12111767 Encouraging the students to write with the aim for it to be presented in newspapers is the goal! As a school we are looking at creating a school newspaper to show off all our amazing students work and writing
Students will be asked to write a persuasive text on why the fishing industry is negatively impacting the worlds oceans, using research as evidence throughout their writing. #UoNTeach#Educ4750#SDG14
@teacher12111767 Students will be able to select one of these within small groups to research and complete a variety of activities. They will then present on the topic to the class
Removal of Essential Predators. Poor Coral Reef Health. Growth of Algae. The Threat to Local Food Sources. Financial Losses. Imbalance of the Marine Ecosystems. Targeted Fish and its Harvest. All major effects of the fishing industry. How can we help? #uonteach#Educ4750#SDG14
@teacher12111767 The research phase is often the hardest. Giving students a list of relevant and factual websites can help them locate good information along with building their research skills so they know what to look for
@teacher12111767 It is a confronting and difficult topic, particularly for young children. I believe grouping children with different abilities so they can talk to their peers and are able to converse with others at a similar age is important in building communication skills and confidence.
Ocean pollution is a difficult and confronting topic for kids. Students can create their own short film in small groups about ocean pollution to show to a stage 1 class. How can you help? #UoNTeach#Educ4750#SDG14 https://t.co/xpVDoDYvOS
