@cocomarvgrows children doing during school closures? Data has long shown that when parents spend a lot of time on their phone, children have more difficulties socializing that those whose parents engage.
Also, how can children from 2020 and 2021 already show developmental vulnerabilities b/c
@HarrySpoelstra considered "normal".
Equating a high IQ with achievement is harmful as it's a stereotype and leads to non-recognition of people with high IQ.
@HarrySpoelstra Scientists or academics aren't automatically "high-IQ professionals". High potential/giftedness has nothing to do with achievement, many are underachievers, especially when not recognized and properly supported as our society isn't built for anyone who falls outside what is
@1goodtern To me, that makes sense. Any cold virus increases the risk of diabetes but we wouldn't refer to someone who develops diabetes after a cold as someone who has "Long Cold". Likewise, someone who develops cancer from HPV isn't referred to as someone who has "Long HPV".
I think
@RWittenbrink@brownecfm and other right-wing shifts in Europe as well as Brexit occurred and/or won and/or were on the rise long before Covid.
Covid was a sunlight to a lot of problems. That doesn't mean that they didn't exist before or were already in the making.
Is Covid a contributing factor?
@RWittenbrink@brownecfm What about any of the below? (These are just a few examples).

There's research from before Covid and there's also the fact that Trump, the AfD, Marine LePen
@GrayD001@1goodtern in 2016. Johnson was voted into office in 2019.
Kurz in Austria was elected in Sept 2019.
Italy voted for a right-wing populist in 2018.
None of that can be explained with Covid. While we can't and shouldn't ignore that effects and damage of Covid - and Covid is dangerous and
@GrayD001@1goodtern Trump's first campaign started in 2015 and he was elected in 2016. What has changed this time around is that he put different people in cabinet positions but he's very much the same with the same policies.
The AfD started to gain traction in Germany in 2015.
Brexit happened
@Sunny_Rae1 of common illnesses we used to consider harmless and we're in desperate need of extensive research into the immune system and the correlation between common illnesses and chronic conditions.
Why are we only learning about the consequences of other illnesses now?
@Sunny_Rae1 I think we should also address that research into Covid has revealed that other illnesses like the flu can have similar consequences.
To me, it looks like Covid isn't unique in that regard but rather, that every illness bears risks, many chronic conditions seem to be the result
@1goodtern I don't think it's helpful to blame anything and everything on Covid. Is it possible people are more susceptible due to Covid? Yes. However, this isn't a new development. According to the CDC, there's been an 800% increase of cases between 1988 and 2018. It has been warned that
@Loz_Coult94 While I read fanfic only sporadically anyway, I read fanfic of shows that have been off the air and I know a handful of other people who do, too. At least one of them still writes it, too. 🙂
@AfterDaylight@Lawrence Not really. Surnames come from where the people were from, what family they belonged to, bodily attributes or what their profession was.
First names either were derived from nicknames or described who someone was the child from. Many traditional first names have meanings.
