This was my first year being a coach for RISD’s UIL Competition. These Forestridge 5th graders worked hard the last few weeks on their poems - reciting confidently & bringing their stories to life. I was so proud of them today! @FREfacts @IamBranum

You have read the research over and over again...that FORMING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS with students is one of the biggest factors attributed to a child’s success.
If so, then why on earth do we place 30+ students in any classroom in America with little to no teacher support? 🤔😕

Schools are now structured so that the overwhelming number of student misbehaviors essentially have ZERO consequences.

This is horrible for teachers…but it’s even worse for the students who want to learn!

Review but make it ✨spooky✨ My classroom became a haunted house so we could review for our fiction unit assessment. Ss collected spooky characters for each correct answer about the passage & earned candy after completing a SCR. @FREfacts @RLAinRISD #RISD

W of the day is 5th grade students saying the high of their day was tutoring because it was soo much fun! 😄@FREfacts

Instead of our usual pencil & paper, Ss were able to create quick sketches of their memoirs on #keynote today during writing! Using #AppleClassroom Ss were able to share & use their pointer as they spoke about their sketch. @RLAinRISD

Today’s Lead4ward strategy was Dance it - Chance It. Ss were able to find a buddy when the music ended & discuss if/where they found that element in their writing. @FREfacts @RLAinRISD
