My Design & Technology sessions today focused on creating long term plans for a specific year group and the role of a subject lead! This gave me more insight into the roles of teachers!
Wee two in science focused on 1) diet and nutrition and 2) physical well-being🏃🏽♀️! As a group, we created ideas on how to teach Y3 on the eatwell plate and healthy eating🍓🍒!
The focus in Tuesday’s class was about the personal values that we wish to bring into the classroom and how we see ourselves at home and as a teacher👩🏫
First session of D&T in third year! The focus was textiles where we designed our own shopping bag 🥦🍎. We thought about the process of creating a product for a specific audience!
First week at uni back again after placement done. In science we looked at evolution and how animals such as penguins have adapted to their habitats 🧬. In my focus subject (English) we looked at ways to make storytelling more inclusive to children who struggle with reading📚
In their RE lesson today, the children made their own version of a Diwali lantern which represents light overcoming darkness in the festival of Diwali🎇🪔
Had my first 15- minute maths session on retrieval of the 4 times tables with my Year 3’s. Very pleased with the engagement in the room to participate and learn. Even got to give out my first sticker😆
First day in placement with my lovely Year 3 class💕. It was a day of observations and getting to grips with how the school works, lots of prep in the weeks to come✏️!!
In my last science lesson before placement, we studied the digestive system and how to model the process with beans and bread and how the system works through the different parts of the body🫁🫀Wasn’t the best of smells, but very effective!!!
Yesterday in Science, our aim of the lesson was to create a medium term plan for states of matter🧬👩🏽🔬. We took into account children’s prior/future learning, and chunked the national curriculum aims into separate lessons!
We spent the morning planning a lesson in phonics introducing the ‘ie’ and ‘ea’ sounds. We came up with activities to teach and develop children’s knowledge in blending and segmenting sounds📚🔤
In our sequence of lessons in Design & Technology we researched and evaluated a kitchen we created for a character or celebrity (we chose Rapunzel) to then show to the panel who acted as ‘The Apprentice’!
