Trauma that a young person experiences outside of school can impact their behaviour and experiences in school.
Young people will show you before they tell you that they are in distress. Let's keep this in mind as we work with young people.🧠🌱
Being trauma aware does NOT mean: no boundaries, ignoring behaviour, letting children get away with things! It means: understanding the root causes of behaviour and dysregulation, using natural consequences that make sense and supporting children.
If I am #Neurodivergent, where I sit in the class may affect my ability to learn. I may prefer to sit at the back, in a corner, by a wall, a trusted friend, near natural light or away from a radiator.
You won’t know unless you ask me.
