Ok - my work has now been informed so I can release this information to the world of Twitter!

My husband got a job in Amsterdam! So we're moving in January and I've won a position at the University of Amsterdam as a teacher trainer!

Lots of work and change ahead, but excited!

@AliceElwell So I agree, there doesn't always need to be a set, formulaic structure in ext writing, some people can weave a fantastic story where it all makes sense & to them I say please carry on and do your thing! But also it's nice to have a structure to guide you if writings not your jam

@AliceElwell I used to tell my students that in the course I taught, writing structure wasn't explicitly marked just whether or not they used the right vocab and it flowed/made sense. Some kids could just do it - fantastic, carry on! Other kids needed more support in extended writing.

An excuse is often blaming someone or something else and not taking responsibility when you should have.

@chalkhands Don't know if anyone's written about it but we've certainly talked about it! Leadership often spoke on "what's best for the kids", and being expected to action it regardless of workload issues. We hear platitudes about what's best for teachers but 0 action, BC it doesn't matter.

@gkcnshn It's not even really that hard to cater for ADHD and autism a lot of the time, it just needs some thought, a bit of collaboration and some patience.

Oof, today was a hyperfocus day. I had to drill down a bunch of information into graphics and write some content, and my brain (plus the Vyvanse) was like MAKE THOSE DIAGRAMS AND DO NOT STOOOOP!

@wentale @timbocop Completely agree. Sometimes it takes the creative ones to see the benefit of knots in certain places - even if it's not meant to/causes more work to be there, there's still functionality, usefulness and opportunity to learn and do things differently.

@timbocop @wentale Some are for sure, some aren't! It's hard in education to see sometimes, where a student needs to be pulled in a certain direction or where they can be left as they are. Not all knots indicate a deficit!

@wentale @timbocop Unfortunately, we end up with bags of beautiful, complex threads that end up in a knot that are cast aside for ones that are easier to handle and aren't as tangled 💔

@wentale @timbocop The problem is, we have complex knots and they're in a bag so we can't see as much as we need to, and access is limited! Also, you have 5 minutes to undo a knot that we know needs 30mins, and we don't have all the tools that would make it quicker.
