@robinsonemma98 In the crazy times we are, podcasts are a great tool for teachers and Ss. They do offer an escape and also support various learning styles. Ss can even create their own podcasts whether they are learning at home or at school! An underestimated learning tool!
Brains On! is a fantastic site full of podcasts for kids! This podcast would be a great way to introduce the topic of plastics to Ss.
Podcasts provide opportunities for various learning styles and the integration of ICT. How could you use them? #UoNTeach

@miss_sillar@SAKGF Wow! This is such a fantastic program. The ingredients can come from the schools bush tucker garden created by students and the community. When Ss are involved in this process, from start to finish, learning becomes very significant. A great integration of Indigenous perspective!
@DanaRomeyn This is a fantastic experiment that is simple yet effective! Students see what it could be like living under water as a marine animal. This could go hand in hand with a research project where students look at the impacts on individual species and ways to help them!
We can always rely on #behindthenews for engaging insights! This video explores #take3forthesea and could lead up to a visit from the organisation or the implementation of a similar program with the school. Our plastic use is an important part of #goal14.

This 7 year old girl started a petition asking McDonalds to reduce their plastic waste! And she created change! This would be great to show Ss, a real life example that reminds them that they can make a difference! How could you use this? #UoNTeach#Goal14

This video, following Mermaid Pearl and Bubbles, could be a great introduction to #Goal14 for younger Ss. This story can begin discussions about where plastic comes from. Do you think it is important to start these discussions at a young age? #UoNTeach

@MarshMaisy Thank you for sharing! This is an awesome and engaging idea. The Ss could do this in class and take some home! It could link to literacy by writing a procedure and science by writing a scientific method or report! Just one of many ways we can reduce plastic in the everyday!
As COVID-19 takes over the minds of Ss, it is easy to get caught up in the negatives. When discussing #goal14 and marine pollution, it will become important to discuss the positive impacts of being stuck at home! How could you use this as a future tool in the classroom? #UoNTeach
@Rach_JMyers Focusing research on particular marine animals is a fantastic idea! With all students researching different species, the task will become a jigsaw with students then learning about a variety of animals and how to protect them. Thank you for sharing!
@SophiavanCamp2 @mccloy_russell I agree with you Sophia! The Great Barrier Reef would be a great location for students to research. They all would have heard lots about the importance of protecting it and some students would have seen it themselves. Utilising their background knowledge is an important start!
Could using celebrities to introduce issues of sustainability be an effective tool in the classroom?
Using figures that students know and love could be powerful in developing their passion about issues such as marine pollution!
#Goal14#UoNTeach
This is a great informative video to introduce #Goal14 to older stages. Students can look at and discuss the targets of this goal. They can then research what they can do as a class and as a school to create small change. How would you use this video? #UoNTeach
@Rach_JMyers What a great video! This could even be used as stimulus for creative writing, using the turtles perspective as the focus of the narrative! Students could create a comic strip, utilising literacy and visual arts skills! Thank you for sharing.
@CarlieSjostedt This is a great idea. The whole school could even get involved, bringing in recycled objects and creating a mural somewhere in the school. Thank you for sharing!
What a wonderful short film to show younger stages!
'A Whales Tale' follows a whale who works to save small sea creatures from the danger of plastic!
How could you use this in the classroom to begin discussions about #Goal14#LifeBelowWater?

@SharnaJade3 This is a great idea! The Ss posters could be used to promote a school initiative that the class has developed to implement and persuade people to get on board, including principals and teachers. Links well to Literacy, Art and many other KLA’s! Thank you for sharing.
@SharnaJade3 This is a fantastic video that covers various aspects of Life Below Water! This could be used at the start of a unit to introduce the concept. Or they could use it to begin a research task. You can do so much with this short video, thank you for sharing Sharna!
@PhoebeM698 This is a great idea! #take3 have educational programs that visit the school too! They can go on excursions to local beaches and water ways. Students could even work together to propose their own practice within their school and write a persuasive letter to the principal!
This comic book from the SDG's website is an engaging resource that focuses on #Goal14, Life Below Water! They could even create their own. What else could you use this for in your classroom? #UoNTeach
