It’s so important to listen to what your student wants. I come prepared with multiple different approaches to learning such as puzzles, games & regular worksheets. Today, my student felt like doing worksheets so that’s what we did! The MathSmart book is great! @PJLanguageArts

I love this activity! I did a similar activity with the student I tutor and she loved it. I left the images colourless so that when she finished each page she could colour them! She's very artistic so this acted as a little reward/break from literacy. @PJLanguageArts

Love the idea of an “I’m done” choice board! It gives fast finishers an idea of what to do next. Using this instead of giving fast finishers their next assignment can also encourage them to take their time rather than trying to get all of their future work done. @PJLanguageArts

I love this! In my placement, my AT made it a point to welcome every student by their first name into the classroom each morning. I thought it was such a nice way to acknowledge each and every student. I plan to do the same in the future! @PJLanguageArts

During placement, we did a "community circle" where all students in the class would share what "zone" they were in. The zones ranged from green (happy) to red (upset/mad). They would share why they were in that zone and classmates would listen to each student. @PJLanguageArts

During my placement, I realized how important it is to have something for students to think about the when they enter the classroom. It not only turns their brain on for the day, but also keeps them quiet during the morning commotion. This would be great to use! @PJLanguageArts

NY times “picture of the day” is a great resource to use in the classroom. Display the photo to your students and have them guess what is happening. This helps students practice visual thinking! @PJLanguageArts

On Tuesday, my tutoring session heavily focussed on math — specifically addition & subtraction. Math puzzles are great to keep students engaged and feel as though their math is a fun game over something like a worksheet for example. They’re free & printable! 😊@PJLanguageArts

During my placement, my AT had a cup of popsicle sticks with each students name on one. When it came to partner or group work, we often drew from the cup (we called it “the fates”). This avoided any fights or drama surrounded by choosing groups! @PJLanguageArts

In my placement we played MONSTER for P.E! We played various rounds with different "monsters" who were to keep as many balls OUT of their "cage" as they could. They loved it! Definitely going use this in the future! @PJLanguageArts

This is so important! Going into the trades can be just as beneficial and successful than attending university. As a student, I remember people who decided not to go to post secondary school got looked down upon. Normalize doing what makes you happy!😁 @PJLanguageArts

This is so interesting! My AT and I were talking about ways to promote proper pencil position for young students last week such as using smaller pencils with less grip. We found this pickleball hack fascinating!🤯 @PJLanguageArts

Some of our JK students use the pencils with a ball attached to enhance their grip and fine motor skills. One of the many great tools we have in the classroom! ✏️📝@PJLanguageArts

Yesterday in my placement, we did a “gallery walk” to show off the grade 6’s incredible Animal Kingdom science projects. Each classmate got 2 sticky notes and were instructed to write a star and a wish. Great activity to practice kind and constructive feedback! @PJLanguageArts
