@zhongyingyi2013 Peers have time and time again proven to be the number one driver of adolescent behavior. Why not use that fact to achieve academic success? #EDL_655
"[Students] need to learn how to live in a society of likenessness and differences. They need to learn to think locally as well as globally. They need to learn how to deliberate about big ideas and how to wrangle with disagreements." - Bena Kallick & Allison Zmuda #edl_655
"I want students to know that when they start school, they're going to be the architects of their own learning for 20% of their time..."
20% autonomous learning seems much more realistic to me! Thoughts anyone? #edl_655

Realistic or idealistic? I love the concept, but could all students really have full autonomy over designing their own learning? I want to say yes, but I just don't know. edl_655

@EBGtech I couldn't agree more! We need to create learning environments where students feel SAFE and ENCOURAGED to fail and learn from that failure! There is so much pressure for students to get a perfect score, but is that really where the best learning takes place? I think not! #EDL_655
Students need to perceive failure as part of the process of achieving success. When students are not afraid to fail, they are more likely to take risks and think creatively! #edl_655
Absolutely worth a watch if you haven't already seen it! Educators need to be fostering creativity, not trying to diminish it. #designthinking#edl_655

@JimTiffinJr This is so similar to a mind-mapping activity we are doing in our #EDL_655 course! Such a meaningful way to include all ideas, and make sure all voices are "heard". #designthinking
If Tony Buzan describes "imagination" as the human language, why do schools not foster the skill of being imaginative just as they foster the development of verbal language? #EDL_655
@Steph_Castle18 The concept of involving students in their own learning just makes SO MUCH SENSE! Why is this type of learning not happening in more schools? Why are we so afraid to relinquish control and give our students more autonomy? #EDL_655
“You can have the best ideas in the world,” Leather said. “But ultimately, it all comes down to implementation.”
Professional development is key in ensuring that #studentcenteredlearning practices are implemented effectively! #EDL_655

A2: Each group of kids is unique! One lesson/style/strategy might work well with some, but not with others! It's important to be flexible. #EDL_655#dtk12chat
