Nearly 10 years ago I was in an undergrad course @Otterbein taught by @BaileyJodie for 4/5 math education. Now weโre crossing paths again at #OCTM2024 ๐ @ohioctm
Opened the new school year hearing from Dr. Stixrud, coauthor of @SelfdrivenChild, how to support student autonomy! Looking forward to digging into the book soon. ๐

From instruction and building relationships to my responses to tough situations. Reminding myself of that lens makes all the difference.
Todayโs a new opportunity to let a child know you see them. To make them smile and to see you smile. To let them know we are happy they are in our classes and schools today.

We welcome the new year with a refocus on our mission, vision, values & Portrait of a Graduate (POG)! We are excited to have the characteristics of our POG on display to serve as our reminder. Our POG will be the North Star that will lead us to REFLECT, RETHINK, and RESET.
I've been a math educator since 2003 and Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematics by @pgliljedahl has more potential to improve the way we teach mathematics than any other book I have ever read.
I wrote a blog post to share why we should all read it:
