Grade 1’s have been learning about artists such as Georges Seurat, Paul Signac and their style of Pointillism. After trying with markers, we decided to give it a try with paint 🎨👩‍🎨🧑‍🎨 Can’t wait to see their finished pieces!

🌧️ April showers bring May flowers! ☔️ It was neat to see the effect of using white oil pastels on white paper for the raindrops/puddles and what happened when we painted over top with water colour paints 🖌️🎨🖼️

🌎Happy Earth Day! Today and every day we have the opportunity to take care of this beautiful earth. Gr 1’s did a great job cleaning up the school yard this sunny afternoon. 🌳🚯🚮

Primary division loved the GoldiRocks performance today! Students were singing, dancing and making memories with friends. The Gr 1’s we’re excited to share the similarities and differences they noticed between this musical and the original story 🎸🎤🎶 @ndbrantford

Today Gr. 1’s explored the capacity of various containers. We predicted the order of containers from least-greatest capacity and then measured each container to see how much water it holds. It was surprising to see the candy jar holds more than our paintbrush jar! @ndbrantford

🍀Last week we wrote about how to catch a leprechaun. Students worked together to create a plan, then build their leprechaun traps. The leprechaun was too sneaky and didn’t get caught! Great work, Grade 1’s! 🍀

We are learning to measure using non-standard units. Today we measured the length of our tables using paper clips, snap cubes, index cards and straws. The Gr. 1’s ensured there were no gaps, worked from one side to the other, and that the units were all the same size. Great work!

Students worked hard all week to earn free choice time on Friday. Some new puzzles, building sticks, and math games were a hit today! A big thanks to parent council for their donations to our classrooms 🙏🏼 @ndbrantford

Today students built their own strong and stable structures to wrap up our Science unit. They were challenged to build a playground structure such as a swing or slide. They used different materials and fasteners to build some wonderful creations!

These little elves have been imagining what’s happening at the North Pole this week leading up to Christmas 🎄 They wrote about what they would be doing to help at Santa’s workshop.

Yesterday we enjoyed a yummy Christmas lunch together as a school community. A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped serve our meal.
