@Mx_EsStrange I just wrapped up my second observation as well. I have to say I really connected with this group of students. This is my first placement in a grade I can actually see myself teaching. #EDU310
Today I had my last observation and it was perfect! I'm sad this semester is coming to an end. I talked to my mentor teacher about keeping in touch since I learned so much from her and her students. I feel honored to be her first student-teacher ever!

Today my students worked on letter identification and letter formation. They seem to struggle with writing lower case letters compared to upper case. I stayed in for recess and worked on my lesson plan for observation 2 with my mentor teacher. #EDU310
@itshamilton I'm working on my lesson plan for observation #2 as well. I was thinking about doing a math activity in small groups. Fingers crossed we both do great! #EDU310
I feel sad I only have a couple more weeks in my placement. I made connections with many students and many parents this semester. I enjoy talking with the parents about their children as school starts for the day. I've also enjoyed working with my mentor teacher a lot. #EDU310
@MsGoglin I still remember learning about cause and effect in 3rd grade. I think using animated shorts to learn about the relationships events and scenarios have with each other is very engaging. #EDU310
Today in my placement we learned about the letter M and some words that start with M. I read "Go Away Big Green Monster" to the whole class before we all went on to create our own monsters. #EDU310
@MrsHannahG24 I haven't been able to go to my placement since my first observation either! A lot of the students in my placement have been missing school due to colds/the flu. #EDU310
For my second observation, I am thinking about doing a whole group lesson on numbers/counting. Next time I go to my placement, I will give the students a pretest to see what numbers they can name/recognize. I will then create my lesson from there. #EDU310#4K
My first observation went very well. My clinical supervisor loved the lesson plan and how engaged the students were throughout. I did small-group this time, so next time I will do whole-group instruction. #EDU310
@itshamilton I am also having trouble because my placement does not have school on Fridays (which is the only day I have off from Starbucks). My supervisor also made my first observation due next week which didn't give much time to get comfortable in the classroom. :( #EDU310
@Mx_EsStrange This is a cool strategy to incorporate movement! I bet it keeps the students engaged and improves the time it takes them to finish a math problem. #EDU310
I am noticing the best way to teach my 4-5 year olds is by short small group lessons around 10-15 mins. My mentor teacher explained to me that she groups the kids according to how many letters of the alphabet they know. This grouping strategy helps when it comes to scaffolding
@madisonowens452 My last placement was with 3rd graders (I prefer working with the younger kids as well). I hope you have a great mentor teacher that makes the transition from 3rd to 6th graders enjoyable!
Celebrated Valentines Day with my 4k class today! We practiced tracing different heart shapes/sizes and made cards to give to parents. Our letter of the day was the letter P. #EDU310
