When you start going down the road of rewarding "good" behaviour and punishing "bad" behaviour this leads to ineffective discipline. You're ignoring the lack of cognitive functioning & unmet need.Focus on acknowledgement not rewards,then you will see the whole dynamic change.🧠🌱

Some special guests visited P6/7MM yesterday morning. We were delighted to receive a certificate, some books and a gift bag of sensory toys after a class entry won second prize in an Autism Acceptance Week poster competition.

A poster competition was held throughout Aberdeen City Primary Schools as part of this year's Autism Acceptance Week. Schools were encouraged to create posters that celebrated indivdual strengths and to bust common myths about autism.

@autienelle Recent research I have conducted has revealed that a diagnosis is deemed necessary for both self identity and acceptance yet post diagnosis support is still ineffective and poor. I hope for a world where neurodiversity is celebrated and embraced as opposed to just tolerated.
