@EastMidRailway is the 1803 from Derby to Leicester cancelled today? I’ve seen there a landslip near Derby so other trains are delayed or cancelled but the website doesn’t mention anything about this service being cancelled.
@RogersHistory I quit teaching in January then rescinded my notice as I decided the job I had accepted probably wasn’t a good fit to support my well-being so I decided to stay (in a different year group) at the school I’ve been at for a few years ☺️
🚨 The results are in! 🚨
In our ballot, NEU members have voted in overwhelming numbers to take historic strike action for a fully funded, above-inflation pay rise. We have to save our schools.
@BouchMaths When it comes to looking for the house itself, look at all of the options (even if you know you won’t love all of them). Doing this really solidified what we did and didn’t want to compromise on and we’re now waiting to complete on our dream house 😍
I really want to start the MA Education (Leadership and Management) as soon as possible but I’m conscious of the workload I’ll already be taking on as a new NQT(ECT). Any advice out there? 😬 @MrTs_NQTs#NQT#edutwitter
@Paul7810@MrTs_NQTs I’m with the Uni of Derby. They offer an online part-time MA so that’s ideal for me - especially being within an hour of Derby and teaching in Derby. They’re a really well put together team and I felt so supported during my PGCE that I don’t think I’d look anywhere else now.
@ed_objective@MrTs_NQTs Don’t get me wrong, I’m not desperate but as I’ve been in uni for 5 years now I feel that I’m in the swing of juggling a full time and studying. We’re also hoping to start a family in a few years and I don’t want to have to put anything off that I want to achieve soon ☺️
@misst_teaching@MrTs_NQTs Thank you!!! My course is part time online and as I’m an NQT, I don’t know what I’m losing out on yet with regards to holidays!! During my PGCE, I worked full time in the holidays while doing uni assignments too so I think I can physically manage!
@RachPteacher @markrog90 @MrTs_NQTs Great advice. I think I’m going to a speak to my NQT Mentor in September about not only how the school would be able to support me but when they think would be best - I don’t want them thinking it’s a bad idea to do it too soon
@RachPteacher @maths_teacherNW @markrog90 @MrTs_NQTs Absolutely - I’m planning on spending the first year just absorbing everything and really thinking about how the course will benefit me
@ballater6@MrTs_NQTs That’s my worry!! I don’t want to put off starting a family but I also don’t know if there are enough hours in the day to do everything at once 🤣🤞
@DoctorPreece@missgeog92@MrTs_NQTs Absolutely! I’ve always enjoyed studying and haven’t been out of education in some capacity since I left school, even while working and have loved the last 5 years doing university courses. I feel that an MA is the route that suites me best, personally
@missgeog92@MrTs_NQTs Absolutely 🤣 on one hand, I don’t want to wait years and then have family commitments to battle with to find time to do an MA but on the other hand, I don’t want to ‘waste’ the MA if I haven’t got enough experience so I’ll definitely need to think about it 😬
@missgeog92@MrTs_NQTs Ah yes of course! I’m in Year 5 so hopefully won’t be too much pressure in that respect but definitely general pressures of ‘am I good enough?!’
