We teach our students how to write.
We teach them to value their thoughts.
We teach them to share their voice with others.
I think it's really important for us to model that same courage for our students. #WhyIWrite
"The moment you become unteachable we can no longer teach"
Yesterday I was reminded that as a lifelong learner I can benefit greatly from researching on my own and reshaping my practice and how I care and teach my students. #lifelongleaner#studentteaching#emergingeducator

My job as a teacher isn’t just to deliver content; I want to make sure my students are caring & respectful humans too.

Today was my last day with these kiddos! I have LOVED watching them grow throughout the school year and especially how their writing & reading skills have developed! I’m going to miss them & teaching with my wonderful practicum partner, @missswansonn 💜 #1stgrade#practicum
For our last station, the students got the words they found in balloons and sorted the correctly spelled words into a category of “double consonants” or “no double consonants”! Make learning fun for your students! #literacyday#langislit#education
Read aloud & logographics!
Today I found out how this can make students really want to listen to the stories and how creative their drawings can be that they create to help them understand and remember a word! #literacyday#langislit#logographic
Station 2: students played Simon Says and focused on adding -ed to the words and figuring out how to sort the words according to the different sounds they make which are “t”, “d”, and “ed”.
This was a fun way to engage our learners! #literacyday#langislit
Writing time! Students are coming up with fun creative ideas of what their first day would be if they came to @HoughtonCollege in 10 years! #writing#literacyday#langislit#education
It’s LITERACY DAY @HoughtonCollege !!!
Can’t wait to do fun activities with these students to help them love literacy even more! #langislit#education#literacy
My students created a text set that reflects their culture, which is now accessible in their classroom! Their texts answered the questions:
1)How do you see your culture in this?
2)How are the characters like you?
3)How does this show what’s important to you? #langislit
