"Who was your favorite teacher?"
Easy! My answer will always be my 11th grade AP Lit teacher. She was the one who made me fall in love with writing & see the value of my own voice & how it had an impact on others. I hope to reach others like she did someday. #WhyITeach
Iโm convinced that the best way for schools to teach empathy, respect, tolerance & understanding, is to model these behaviors each & every day for our students.

This most powerful thing we can give our students is connection. We must connect with their stories, Connect them with each other, and connect them with their passions and god given talents. Connection will give them purpose and value. #JoyfulLeaders#prayforsantefehs
Great teachers know they're teaching kids first, then content. The needs of the students come first, then the curriculum. The best lessons your students will learn in school probably won't be found in textbooks, they will come from your example. #edchat#FutureDriven
@TeachingMoment_ I'd say that it all depends on the student. While putting tests online is a great way to incorporate twenty-first century skills, it may not shine light where needed for each student who needs help.
Without being in the classroom, I was afraid I'd be inactive, but I've had the privilege to babysit 2 kids from my church the same age as my practicum kids (1st/2nd). I'm able to use what I've learned this past year to aid their learning this summer! ๐
Math is everywhere! When students understand why and how #math skills are applied outside the classroom, they become more motivated to learn. #Mathematics#STEM#MathChat
My practicum placement this school year has been amazing and I'm so changed. I was bless by my partner, teacher, and classroom of students who showed their love and support to help me grow.
"You always remember your first group of kids, good and bad."
Yesterday I spent the whole day at my practicum placement even though we were done on Friday. My friend and I had this conversation:
Her: what're you doing tomorrow?
Me: going to school all day
H: you have your whole life to go to school every day!
M: but not with these kids!
I was reminded today that we are privileged enough to spend our days with small humans who are learning to navigate big emotions. I am still figuring out how to help them in doing this. What have you found to work in your classrooms? #langislit#eee#edchat
Give students things they can do rather than what the shouldn't or can't do! Positive reinforcement is so important. Remember that each student and class is different and unique. What are some positive reinforcements you might use?
