@stephyy83256264@Simpson616@bowelcanceruk (2) as someone who lost their entire large bowel to IBD. I would be demanding at least blood work be done if my loved one was experiencing these symptoms. Young women are just as likely to have IBD as anyone else and frankly itβs sexist when they try and fob us off with anxiety.
@stephyy83256264@Simpson616@bowelcanceruk All of these symptoms could also be Inflammatory Bowel Disease (which in itself increases the risk of bowel cancer). Both IBD and bowel cancer should be diagnosable through blood tests, colonoscopy, and biopsy. (1)
Interesting to hear from secondary educators on this too. In primary every week I scratch my head about how to fit it all in (which foundation subjects will inevitably be missed) while rushing teaching maths, all the phonics before the screening and actually any decent English!
I'm so sick of our national curriculum. There's not enough time to teach things properly. Everything is rushed. Why are there so many topics? Who thought this was a good idea? Where's the depth in a curriculum where you have to teach at a million miles an hour? Argh. π‘
A distinct primary school memory of mine is arguing over my spelling homework with my Welsh father... Year and ear were both in the test. We could not understand what the other was on about!
Today I asked for examples of homophones. One student said βher and hurβ. After much confusion on my behalf, he pointed at his head and said, βyou know, hairβ. Where I work, βhairβ is pronounced βhurβ. Which got me thinkingβ¦homophones are actually pretty dependant on accent.
NASUWT wonβt be talking strike action.
Despite a 90% yes vote, the threshold for turnout wasnβt met.
It shows anger, it shows disgruntlement, but ultimately itβs a blow for action on pay rises
Interesting to see how the other ballots turn out.
Trying to finish my MA dissertation, and then coming down with awful flu is not exactly the restful Christmas break I needed after a challenging first term as an ECT... exhausted doesn't cover it!
First afternoon in Baby Room today. Was told while they were napping that one in particular would probably scream at the sight of me, he did with everyone. He woke up, cried, took one look at me & ran over for cuddles. Clung to me all afternoon. What a welcome! we'll be friendsπ
I was feeling a bit nervous to be back in school after xmas, working alongside a new teacher, with a new classroom layout... The kids came in beaming, excited to be back. Quickly remembered what I love about this class of receptions. Each one of them never fails to make me smile.
Really important to remember that childcare isn't expensive because of practitioner wages but because of government underfunding. Most EY staff could earn more working in pretty much any other job. #PVI#EYFS
I received feedback from my final graded assessment of my BEd today - the highest grade I've achieved over the course of my 3 years of study. It's always nice to see progress and it feels great to end on a high. Thank you @UOW_IoE for three brilliant years despite the challenges.
On Thursday the whole school visited Leonardslee gardens. Our thanks to the Streeter family for organising this for us. There was so much to see!

I'm really proud to have had my article selected for publication in this year's Alfred Journal. I only submitted it with the attitude of 'why not? What's the worst that could happen?' in order to push myself to try more and I'm so glad I did. ππ #edutwitter
Alfred edition 10 - special issue for sustainability and social justice - is out now and available to read online! We are so grateful to our hardworking team of editors and proud of the authors whose research has made the edition so fascinating. Congratulations all! @_UoW
