MFL teacher. From the Basque Country in France π«π·. Teaching π«π· to A-level and Spanish πͺπΈ KS3. Looking to share teaching ideas. All views are my own.
@MflCe For speaking in KS3 we give them a list of several questions that we might ask. Ask 4 questions from that list and 1 not from the list (from previous topic or from same topic but different to the list given) and thatβs it. That way itβs about 2/3min per students.
@MflCe With 3h a week, we do an assessment every half term with listening/reading in one lesson, writing for KS4/grammar only for KS3 and speaking. It takes time but you do see more confidence and improvement when it comes to taking their GCSE speaking.
Miss FH's 4th Form #UppinghamSpanish classes tried out the Spanish tradition 'Doce Uvas' - eating a grape on each chime of the midnight bells on New Year's Eve. They represent the 12 months of the new year to come and bring good health, good luck, happiness and abundance πͺπΈ π
@HeroicMrT I think you should mention it to someone at school. Even though he isnβt a pupil there, he was not so long ago (especially if youβre in a sixth form school). Keep helping and talking to him if he needs and tell school you will do that but it also shows he is dependent on you
This very early wake up is going to be difficult but it is for a good thing. During the night, weβre leaving school and taking 44 students to Paris for the week. All these months and numerous hours of planning it and it is now happening :)
@MissDaveyMFL Might see you there at some point as weβre taking 44 students to Paris this week too! I hope it all goes well and runs smoothly for both our trips. I understand all the hard work and preparation you have put ahead of it and hope you enjoy it!
@MissDaveyMFL 80 students? Wow. Iβm taking 45 & the Louvre is not going to be possible too. Weβve decided on Chateau de St Clou instead. If that fails, we will just have a free-time afternoon and take the students in the metro and walk to the place de la Concorde, jardin des Tuileries, etc.
@scshoots@joedale If you want to get notifications for all jobs going with a certain amount of miles from your house, you can create an account on Teachvac and activate alerts! It works so well and they check jobs on all websites except for Facebook.
Yesterday Iβve had another colleague telling me: βI donβt know how much left Iβve got in me, I will missing teaching but Iβm these conditions itβs getting really hard, Iβm not sure how long Iβll be a teacher for. Not sure Iβll still be one next yearβ. @NEUnion#TeacherStrike
@MflCe What happened? Thatβs not cool! Some people think they can say anything on tweeter without thinking of the person behind! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, although I donβt really get how people can support AT but whatever. Hope youβre okay ππ»
@mrswrighty76 Most teachers would tell you: We love our job and would have preferred to be teaching today. Yes children have lost a day of learning BUT if it continues this way, they would lose so much more learning because we wouldnβt have the funds or staff to educate and care for them
@profprofMFL In addition to that, Iβll also strike to stop losing TAs and LSAs to better paid jobs outside of education and struggling to recruit, this leaving EHCP and SEND students to the teacher on top of the rest of the 30 students in the room.
