Ending the school year the same way it began, with an empty classroom and a screen full of smiley faces. What a strange year it has been and weird end to 3 years teaching in Kuwait. An emotional goodbye to the class I never met in person! 🇰🇼

@MrDohertyY1 @katielockett Haha to be fair that was two of us.. and during covid so travel was a no go! There are lots of teachers on here that teach in the Middle East so I think you see a lot more mention of Dubai/Qatar/Kuwait etc but there are so many other options too!

@katielockett @MrDohertyY1 Very true! My salary in South East Asia is much higher than it was in the Middle East if you are purely looking at saving. We bought a house as a buy to let after just over a years savings! Happy to DM ☺️

@VerandaThought @RogersHistory This is really interesting as in my experience I have so much ICT support and external CPD and practically unlimited resources at the schools I’ve been at! Each country/school is so different isn’t it!

@RogersHistory (although a longer school day) which allow me to use time much better. Lack of external pressures, more money/resources both online and physical. I think some of the above make life ‘easier’ but of course, there are also things that are more challenging than the U.K. 2/2

@RogersHistory In my experience I would say it’s school and country dependent to some extent. ‘Easier’ is also difficult to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to. Technically the job is still exactly the same, but I would say things like having specialists subjects means you have a lot of non-contact time 1/2

@MissDHeadofPe1 You can stay by yourself, but can’t stay with someone of the opposite sex without a marriage certificate at lots of the larger hotels! Hope that helps!

@ShahZehrah @Miss_L_Teach I personally find people are more honest on international teaching on FB groups. If you have questions about specific schools, they can DM you. Maybe as Twitter is more of a‘professional’ environment or people’s accounts are attached to their schools they aren’t always as honest!
