"I feel relaxed and ready to learn now". This was said by a student who participated in Smiling Minds after lunch. As a part of Healthy Heads, Healthy Hearts. Meditation Monday will focus on meditative strategies to help students relax & control anxiety. #EDUC4750#SDG3#UoNTeach
Great podcast! "What starts with our hearts connects to our minds". Define Youniversity has fantastic podcasts on professional and personal strategies for mental health. I will be using the strategy of affirmation decks in my Healthy Heads, Healthy Hearts project. #EDUC4750#SDG3
Today I trialled a theme of my project 'Wednesday Workout'. The children loved it and became active participants of their PA levels and created a fitness circuit. The construction linked to the KLA English, Procedural writing and Maths, counting and measurement.#Educ4750#sdg3
@Gabmaree That is a great idea. I may include that as a activity in my project. Having the mirror permanently set up in the classroom is a great way to continually promote the importance of positive self-talk and affirmations.
Positive affirmations, help children to use their inner force to tell them, I CAN. I have begun a daily affirmation in my casual teaching to help develop and foster a growth mindset amongst the students. How can we inspire children everyday to be their best selves?#EDUC4750#SDG3
@BellaWightman Definitely after lunch. I find the children are always either restless or distracted when coming back into the classroom. After lunch is the optimal time to settle them to a place for focused learning.
Smiling Minds is a meditation tool that teachers can use in the classroom. Smiling minds creates effective learning environments, self-regulation in students emotions and optimal concentration levels for all learners. Have you used SM in your classroom? #EDUC4750#SDG3#UonTeach
COVID-19 will continue to affect the mental health of all school communities. It's important that we all remember that we are going through it together. Children need positive affirmations now more than ever. Thank you for sharing this evidence based research @Courtney229498.
Mental health doesn’t discriminate based on age, we need to be supporting our future population to allow best possible chance of achieving good mental health and well-being! It begins with them. #educ4750#ourchildren#Mentalhealth#UoNTeach
@samjl138@wildsidenat What a fantastic way to engage the students. Workshops are a brilliant way for the students to learn practically. Even more so when it promotes critical thinking and problem solving.
@samjl138 A great reading which I also thoroughly enjoyed. What a great way to promote students in become more self-aware and tomorrows global citizens.
@samjl138 What a fantastic way to engage the students and the community. Have you had a look at any local places that would be suitable for a similar excursion?
@samjl138 Wow! That is an alarm statistic. What a great way to incorporate history into your project. You could get the students to think about a specific area from 100 years a go and a 100 years in the future.
@samjl138 Great resource Sam! What a great way to hook and hold the students when you first begin your discussion on sustainability. The video is a great way to cater for all of your students and spark those rich classroom discussions.
Choose kind words. As apart of my project I will be having “Talk about it Tuesday” and “Thoughtful Thursday”. Which will focus on using positive language to shift from ‘I can’t’ to ‘I can’t yet…’. Allowing the students to learn about a growth mindset. #educ4750#sdg3#uonteach

Why do kids need positive affirmations? When adults use powerful words, children have more confidence and are able to take on new challenges. Help your students build their growth mind set to help them change their inner dialogue. https://t.co/qgWHLgTua9 #Educ4750#SDG3#UoNTeach
What a great daily planner! I would use this as a whole class activity everyday after a lunch break. It is a fantastic way to improve overall health and wellbeing of the students. As well as keep everyone accountable for looking after their mental health.#EDUC4750#SDG3#UoNTeach

@BaartzAbby@PlayCraftLearn WOW! What a great use of TPACK. Minecraft education is a great ICT resource. In regards to SDG15, a digital city could be created and the students could then design ways to minimise the amount of waste.
@BaartzAbby What a great way to engage the community in your project. The SummerHill Waste Management Centre also provides educational excursions for students to learn more about SDG15!
