Taken a bit of a break from this account but I’m back! Excited for my new adventure of Head of History in September but first a summer of relaxation and planning ahead of the new academic year! #history#teaching#education
@KristianStill Thank you! And thank you for your sessions today - the 3 I attended were really useful and I can’t wait to begin reviewing everything and beginning to plan when to embed things!
Looking for a simple, clear, black and white map of Germany 1918-1939 with major cities/towns/regions identified. Ideally want to print it off A2 or A1 size for putting up in my A Level classroom. Does anyone have one they can share? 🗺📍#historyteacher#AQAGermany#history#map
@LhistoryMs I also like to give them answers to improve - more specific detail, better links needed etc - and get them to improve them. I also show them answers with irrelevant info - what needs to be taken out and why, they then do this and add in relevant info
@LhistoryMs Break down the exam q together through questioning, go through the mark scheme (sometimes student friendly version), identify these strands on the model answer/paragraph. Write another one together as a class, identify strands. Then they have a go at another one
A massive thank you to @DavidOlusoga for talking to students today about Black British History - the students were gripped with every word! Thank you for inspiring them; answering their (and my) questions and for playing a leading role in changing how we teach Black History!
Absolutely loving the @AceThatTest podcasts! Refreshing my knowledge on retrieval practice and learning more in-depth around interleaving and concrete examples! #education#retrieval#secondary#educationresearch
Setting up our school RS Twitter account? Any recommendations for who we should be following? Looking forward to getting stuck in with some Subject CPL and sharing with the RS teacher community!

I’m delivering two induction lectures to History PGCE students for @UoBSchoolofEd
I’ll be focusing on the importance of History as a discipline and diversity within the curriculum.
I’d like to also give them some top tips for starting their PGCE year. What are yours?
