@TheTrueVanguard every defense of marathon is about everything except actually playing marathon.
deep lore. atmosphere. modern design.
then i log in and remember iβm supposed to have fun.
The fact Destiny is still hovering around 60kβ100k going into week 3 while Marathon already dropped off within the same time period tells you everything.
Delivering content people actually want will always beat artificial FOMO and drip-fed engagement.
Let players play everything at their own pace. No forced weekly checklists like drip-fed raid/dungeon loot and re-issued content every few months.
Drop meaningful content, let people enjoy it, then return with another big update at a later date.
That builds trust and trust keeps players around longer than forced retention ever will.
One month ago today it was announced that Destiny 2 would be coming to an end. Since then there has not been an announcement for destiny 3. Until it does I will be here, no matter how many months it takes.
"The biggest reply I've seen so far online every time someone brings up Destiny right now is: 'Well, if you wanted a Destiny 3, you should've paid for it, you should've bought more Destiny 2.'
And I'm like, you dumb motherfucker, we already paid for it. We paid for that shit. The Destiny community paid for ALL of that shit. They probably paid for Destiny 3 twice!
It's not our fault the money went elsewhere. It's not our fault it went to fucking Marathon. It's not our fault the money went to other incubation projects which, by the way, never came to fruition."

@XBOX@DestinyTheGame@XBOX sees the want for D3
XBOX isnβt being silent like Sony
XBOX Can do the funniest shit & take over the gaming industry by just being like βYo @Sony we wanna buy half of Bungie, but only the half that made Destiny, yβall can keep Marathon, we donβt want it.β
Here's my problem with the "emergency acquisition" narrative: every single person in a position to know the financials had tens of millions of reasons to push it. Marty said on Act Man he made out well when Sony bought his stock. Barrett's lawsuit says he was owed ~$45-50M from the deal. The bigger the crisis story, the easier the sale. Maybe it's true! But nobody outside leadership has ever shown the actual numbers, and "trust me, we were dying" from people who got rich off the deal isn't evidence.
@A_dmg04@CraftingGeek Have cried for 3 days straight when the news brokeβ¦.thought I got everything out. Apparently notβ¦.i really canβt believe what is happening right now. πππ
Same. Trying to keep it together on the plane.
The Seventh Column will always be bigger than anything anyone could have ever imagined, and we hope you can feel every bit of love and appreciation from the team. In trailers, blogs, and gameplay, itβs all for you.
Iβm keeping hope for the future in my heart, always. Will never let it go.
Guardians make their own fate.
Forgive my tearsβ¦this one was tough. Thank you to every Warlock + Guardian who kept this legendary game alive for these past wonderful years. It has been an honor and privilege to have taken this journey with you. See you starsideβ¦ π

Pete Parsons is officially the first CEO ever to kill a $3.6 billion-dollar game studio by hoarding money for his classic car collection.
He is 61 years old.
Tomorrow marks the end of Destiny 2's journey. Nearly a decade of raids, friendships, memories and moments we'll never forget.
And whether Bungie ever makes it or not, we can all agree on one thing...
Destiny 3 would instantly become one of the most anticipated games in gaming history! β€οΈ#WeWantDestiny3
