I'm Just a Nobody trying to tell everybody all about somebody who Saved my Soul!!
Emotional moment at a Pennsylvania high school yesterday after a student crowned Homecoming King surprised everyone by passing the honor to the runner-up.
Cheating is one of the most painful, disgusting, and disrespectful things you can do to someone you claim to love. It destroys trust, breaks hearts, and leaves emotional scars that are not easily healed. The worst part is that you are hurting someone who trusted you, believed in you, and chose to be faithful to you, even when they had every opportunity to do otherwise. What makes cheating so painful is that it changes the way a person sees love :
Tennessee offered DeSean Bishop a walk-on spot. No scholarship, pay your own way.
He resented it.
Saturday he scored the touchdown that beat Arkansas with 1:57 left.
Here is what he says saved him.
Start with Saturday.
Tennessee and Arkansas were tied at 17 with seven minutes to go. Bishop broke a 59 yard run to set up the end of it, then took it in from the 8 up the middle.
He finished with 19 carries for 138 yards. The Volunteers won 24 to 17 and they are 5 and 1.
The Saturday before that he ran for 220 yards against Auburn.
Now go back.
He is from Knoxville and he went to Karns High School, about 15 minutes from the Tennessee campus.
Two schools offered him a scholarship. Coastal Carolina and Appalachian State.
Tennessee offered him a place on the team and nothing else.
He has said he did not like it at first. He took it anyway.
He hurt his ankle and redshirted. He was the backup the next year and ran for 455 yards.
In January of 2025 Tennessee finally put him on scholarship.
That season he ran for 1,076 yards and 16 touchdowns and made second team All SEC. The Athletic now ranks him the eighth best draft eligible underclassman in the country.
Now here is the part that got away from everybody.
In July, at SEC Media Days in Tampa, an ESPN reporter named Peter Burns asked him about his faith. Burns asked because Bishop's teammate Arion Carter had told him to.
Here is some of what Bishop said.
"Man, I'll tell you, I wouldn't be here without it."
"My Lord and Savior has treated me very good. More than I honestly deserve."
And this about the road to it.
"I came up from a lot of tribs and trials just to get to the spot I am now."
Then he said this.
"When God swooped in and saved my life, it came with all this that I've received now, so all glory to Him."
He said he was saved from "a really dark place, a path of destruction that I was on."
He has never said what that was, and nobody has asked him to.
He also did not pretend it is finished.
"It's a daily battle," he said.
Then he turned it outward.
"I encourage you to at least try to find a relationship with him. It changes your life for the better."
The clip went everywhere, hundreds of thousands of views. Kirk Herbstreit reposted it. One writer called it the most important 90 seconds of the entire event.
So that is the kid who walked on at the school down the road from his high school and did not like the terms.
Saturday he carried it 19 times and scored the one that won it.
Cheating is a reflection of inner insecurity &poor character. Living a double life & thinkin it funny is embarrassing at this age. The grass isn’t greener, and karma needs no assistance a cheater is never a loss you’re simple a coward that will definitely lie in the bed you made
Dear GOD, restore the parts of me that disappeared while I was trying to survive. Bring back my laughter, hope, creativity, tenderness, and excitement about life. I don’t want to merely function anymore; I want to feel alive again. Amen.
One of the greatest tests of your faith will be how you respond to the people who mishandled you. Because, God saw every bit of it. He saw the disrespect you endured in silence. He saw the betrayal that pierced deeper than you ever admitted. He saw the deception, the manipulation, the conversations held behind your back, the moments they mishandled your heart and then expected you to continue extending grace as though nothing had happened.
And while your flesh may want vindication, retaliation, exposure, or the opportunity to make them feel the weight of what they caused, sometimes God will require something greater from you. Restraint. Discernment. Obedience. “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” — Romans 12:19 KJV.
Forgiveness does not require continued access. Grace does not require you to remain connected to dysfunction. Loving people as Christ commanded does not mean repeatedly placing yourself in environments where your spirit is dishonored, your peace is disturbed, and your boundaries are ignored. You can forgive and still separate. You can pray for them and still remove yourself. You can release bitterness without reopening the door. You can wish them well and still understand that they no longer have permission to mishandle you.
Do not allow somebody else’s lack of character to corrupt the character God is developing within you. Let God handle the hidden conversations. Let God handle the false accusations. Let God handle the betrayal. Let God handle the injustice. You do not have to destroy your peace trying to prove what God already witnessed. Sometimes the greatest demonstration of spiritual maturity is having every reason to retaliate and still choosing righteousness. Because the real victory is not making them hurt the way they hurt you. The real victory is walking away with your heart still submitted to God, your spirit still clean, and your character still intact. Girl, God saw what they did. And He is fully capable of handling what you were never called to carry.
Why do side chicks always swear they’re better than the main? They’re prettier, sexier, classier, and supposedly more desirable. Okay… if you’re really all that, why are you settling for a man who already has a woman? If you’re supposedly “better,” why are you fighting for a spot that was never yours to begin with?
The hurt was so bad it didn't lead me to alcohol, smoke, or parties. It led me to my room, on my knees, surrendering my heart to God, asking him to ease my pain & help me heal.
God will literally take everything from you, sit you out to humble you, isolate you to build you back up, then give you back everything x10 to prove to you that he's real & everything he do is for a reason. One thing I’ve learned about God, he keeps his promises. I said all that to say it doesn’t matter what your today looks like, God can do a full 360 on your life tomorrow. Keep your trust in him always.
