Gianni Infantino has given FIFA’s 211 member associations 53 days: approve the partial sale of the World Cup’s commercial rights to private investors, or accept a sharp cut in the development funding most of them depend on.
53 days to decide the ownership in perpetuity and commercialisation of the world’s most loved tournament, now almost a century old.
He developed the scheme in secret, and is forcing individual associations to decide months before the next Congress meets next March.
No Congress debate. No Congress vote. No testing of the concept, financials, projections, people and organisations involved.
Just a time-limited, financially punitive choice imposed on each member separately.
Reports indicate a high-paid commissioner-style role at the new commercial entity could be created for him, potentially delivering a multi-million salary far beyond his current pay.
He is using the organisation’s own assets as leverage against its members, while positioning himself to benefit personally from the structure he is racing to lock in.
The President of FIFA exists to serve the organisation and every association equally. Not an external investment consortium. Not a selected group of compliant members. And not himself.
This is not democracy. It is not governance. It is not leadership.
It is coercion dressed as opportunity.
He should be removed.
@Genki_JPN Personally I prefer to buy digital games but PS games cost significantly more in my country.
Example - Marvel’s Wolverine:
Physical Store: $99.00
PlayStation Store: $139.99
This is an anti consumer decision and will make me really question whether to get a PS6 when I have a PC
@AdamJoseph I understand walking away due to the price being overvalued but if you look at the alternatives they are all expected to seek a price around the same as Fernandes. If anything this highlights that maybe walking away from Anderson was the mistake

@TMFScottP Most people will quietly agree with you, like your message and move on. Unfortunately, this vocal minority may be reacting out of fear for their teams/clubs and the sponsorship ramifications it could have. Also I think people don't realise how big a problem it is for our society
@TMFScottP I can understand this for apartments as most people just buy the strata report. Also in most cases you wouldn't even have time to do your own a building inspection as the properties were selling either the first or second week of being on the market
@DrCameronMurray Another niche issue I have is when a path is nicely renovated with tiles etc and then some contractor comes in and rips up some of it and then when they’re finished, they just cheaply fill it with asphalt
@SeaEagleSpur Ngl I feel like this could be a long season for us but you never know. I can definitely see Walsh starting soon if Fogarty and Brooks don’t fire
Bingeing TikTok reels may be hazardous to your well-being.

Read a book. Watch a movie. Long live longform.
@TMFScottP It’s a complex issue, no doubt. But endless urban sprawl isn’t the answer. Thoughtfully designed 3–4 storey apartments built to live in not exist with proper storage and 3–4 bedrooms; offer a smart, livable alternative that doesn’t impede on the area like a 22 story appartment
@MKBHD Why do Base iPhones get the fun colours while the Pros look depressing 😞
Base iPhones: designed by people who love colour. 🌈
Pro iPhones: designed by people who love spreadsheets. 🫥
@AmorimEra_ The responsibility for this loss lies squarely with the players. When you're facing a team that's three divisions lower, it's about execution and turning up, not tactics. Unfortunately, the players didn't step up and let the manager down.
