Simple writing is persuasive. It’s one of the most important lessons I learned early in my career.
In the AI era, it’s even more important to reinforce this principle instead of relying on LLMs to generate polished and bloated content.
24k+ stars on GitHub, 500+ customers, 7K+ strong slack community — want to help supercharge it? We’re hiring Forward Deployed Engineers at SigNoz 🚀
If you are an engineer with an interest in speaking with customers and helping them be successful, this role may just be for you
We’re an open-source, OpenTelemetry-native observability platform (traces + metrics + logs). YC-backed. Fully remote — no offices.
What you’ll do
- Design and implement observability in customer infra: OTel instrumentation, tailored dashboards, and guide customers with your expertise
- Write clear integration guides, troubleshooting docs, and best practices which engineers can follow
- Spot patterns across customers and feed them back into product defaults, templates, and tooling
You’ll thrive in this role if you
- Have 2–6 years in DevOps, SRE, Platform or Solutions Engineering
- Are comfortable with containers, Kubernetes and at least one cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Enjoy hands-on coding
This is probably not for you if you
- Prefer working mostly in isolation instead of partnering closely with customer engineering teams
- Don’t enjoy writing documentation
- Not keen on hands-on implementation work
Why SigNoz
- Build a global dev-infra product with a 200+ contributor open-source community
- Work with high ownership and talk to users daily

Why SigNoz
- Open-source, OTel-first; used by engineers worldwide

If you love teaching through code, telling clear product stories, and building with community—let’s talk.

we just open-sourced the SigNoz MCP Server — let Claude, Cursor, and your agents talk to your observability stack 🚀
AI assistants are great at reasoning, but they’re blind without context. With the SigNoz MCP Server, your assistant can securely fetch the right observability data on demand — inside your IDE or coding assistant — to debug faster, review incidents, and answer on-call questions in plain English.
Some sample questions you can answer now and give context to your AI agent about:
“What services were active in the last 24h?”
“Which alert rules are firing right now?”
“Show me the dashboard related to kafka.”
but this is just the tip of the iceberg, you essentially have all your observability data available through natural language query now
📖 Why open source?
SigNoz is built on open standards (OpenTelemetry). Open sourcing our MCP server continues our commitment to open source & open standards.
🙏 Try it / contribute
- Works with SigNoz Cloud or self-hosted (grab an API key from Workspace Settings)
- PRs welcome — especially new tools (logs/traces queries, runbook helpers, etc.) and example prompts
Excited to see what our community starts building with it 🥳
18 years with an autistic kid.
Our son, Milan, turns 18 today.
When he was two a doctor told us we might never get to talk to him. Several he goes to school with aren't verbal.
He talks today, but is a man of few words. When he speaks, especially if I'm angry about something, he always has a funny way to look at it. Several times, in those situations, he'll say "daddy you need a vacation." Or "daddy you need some anger management." Always gets me to laugh. Our family has a bunch of Milan's sayings that entertain them, like that.
When we first heard he was autistic and would have severe problems in life we saw many of our dreams disappear.
He isn't the kind of person to play baseball with you. Or, even, sit down and watch a movie with you (he walks out of most of them before they get half way).
But he puts in the work, every week we go see his speech therapist, same one we've seen for 13 years once a week. Which requires two hours of driving.
Looking back he has taught me so many things that I never would have thought I'd have to learn.
Like that the school system is not on parents side. We've had to hire lawyers and other specialists to make sure he gets the help he needs.
If you bring a life into this world, be ready to be taught lessons you never signed up for.
I love him so. I'm proud of him, and proud of myself. 16 years ago I couldn't see how we would get here.
If you have a young autistic kid, or some other kid who has special needs, you know just what I'm saying.
I see you, and know that it gets better. Mostly because you'll change yourself. Which isn't easy, but then life isn't always easy.

🔥 The future of observability is open & transparent
And it’s already here — powered by open source code & open standards like OpenTelemetry.
Loved reading these rave reviews from our users — this one from Raphael Cohen nails it:
- Standards-based & future-proof instrumentation
- Full control over your data & costs
- Faster onboarding for engineers with a unified, simpler stack
When you combine open standards with open source, you get flexibility, and speed — without vendor lock-in.
what's stopping you from moving to the new world?
The world runs on money.
Many people despise money and in some way find it to be not the right representative of value.
But it is the clearest indicator of value which humanity had developed till now. It is not perfect in any way, but other measures are even worse.
If someone pays you $X for your product/service, it means they value your product/service more than $X. Otherwise, they won't make that transaction.
Simple.
Other measures of value are worse.
Say you use someone's time as a depiction of value. You still need to value how each person values their time, and how others value their time. Which again boils down to pegging each person's time to a common unit.
Money (more specifically fiat currencies) as a unit of value is more robust, as there are financial markets which keep on pegging different currencies against each other. So, everyone in the world as an inherent value of $1 to them.
This makes doing transactions much easier.
You quote a price, and the buyer either pays it or doesn't make the transaction.
For startups, that's why revenue is so important. It is the most robust measure that you are creating value.
And, bonus point - you can feed yourself and your team with this revenue :)
Not sure whether to feel good or bad about it
