Happy #Friday friends & followers! Today’s #NationalTreeWeek ft is our #EnglishYew - or Taxus baccata - of which there are many in different forms around Mitton Manor gardens. In this @clivenichols photo it is in ornamental topiary form but we also have dense yew hedges too 🌳

The first of our #NationalTreeWeek trees is our #Hornbeam. Planted in 2001 these stilted Carpinus betulus will live on at Mitton Manor for up to 300 years! We have used a pair of pleached hedges to create 'Hornbeam Avenue'. The second photo shows how our Hornbeam looks now 🍂

Hello friends & followers! Today’s #NationalTreeWeek ft our #QuercusIlex (also know as Holm Oak). Their wood has been used since ancient times to construct the likes of pillars, tools and wagons to wine casks 🌳 here we enjoy the sound a breeze makes through their leaves 🍃

Day three of #NationalTreeWeek brings the majestic Mitton Manor #CherryTrees (Prunus Kanzan) - the undisputed stars of the show in Spring! Whilst we don't expect these double flowering cherries to live beyond 25 years, their beauty makes them well worth planting 🌸🌳

Our next #NationalTreeWeek feature is our #SilverBirch. A symbol of purity, Silver Birch provide food and habitat for 300+ insect species and hole-nesting birds often next in the trunks. Tolerant of a range of temperatures, these versatile trees grow from Spain to Lapland! 🌳
