I totally get that many must rely on prize money or grants to get going. But be careful not to become a grantpreneur, using grants and not customer revenue to sustain your business in the long term.
Today was a great day in the Littoral Region. Students from various secondary schools created amazing games and apps using MIT's Scratch platform and presented them before a Jury I was part of. It was just amazing to see the innovation and creativity of these students. I sponsored the prize which went to the youngest team, made up of Form 3 students and all of them were girls. They created a beautiful game. Congratulations to the Littoral ICT and Csc Teachers Association for putting this competition together that gives a space for these young minds to be creative.
In Cameroon, high school students learning SQL have to use Microsoft Access which to me is a very hacky solution. So I started building an Sqlite UI wrapper which I believe is far easier to use and will really get the students to learn better and practice better with a minimalistic interface. Below is a sample screenshot and yes I am using the idea of cells from JupyterLabs. I think it'll be fun for students to write their queries in a cell and run them to see what the query does. Hopefully by next year all schools in Cameroon migrate to this software.

At this point I wanted to see how far I can push this. So I did another transaction with 300K and guess what, UBA credited me with 30 million FCFA. A normal person will just buy Bitcoin and enter the wind. But since I am not normal, I wanted to wait and see how long it'll take UBA Bank to notice this bug. Normally I imagined it should happen within hours but this wasn't the case.
In my mind I was like this cannot be real. So I did another transaction and this time I tried with 30K FCFA.
Within the same 4 minutes, UBA Bank credited me with 3 million FCFA.
After the 10k was debited, the transaction failed and within 4 minutes, UBA Bank did a reverse transaction but instead of the 10k, they credited my account with 1M FCFA.
So this happened 3 days ago. I don't use this account often, and I wanted to deposit money into a prepaid card. 10,000 FCFA. The money was debited as I'd expect but something unlikely happened.
A bug in UBA Banks platform multiplies your money by 100. So if you do a transaction of 10,000FCFA, you get 1 Million FCFA in return. @UBAGroup
This is the story of how I discovered this.
Ps, this account had like 3m FCFA in it and within 30 minutes, it was already at 30+ million FCFA.
