@uuyonihsoh@SerendipityWrk@nukkie66 This is a completely new concept for me. Very interesting! Will the plastic antibodies be used in human body? Are they non-toxic and biodegradable?
@etayyabi @SerendipityWrk For Cu, it can not reach nM level, because cells are not sensitive to Cu in that low concentration. Maybe a combination with deep learning will help to lower the detection limit.
@etayyabi @SerendipityWrk Yes, it is possible for other heavy metals. I also found similar morphological response of E. gracilis to Ag and Fe using imaging flow cytometry. I think it maybe also possible for Pb.
@JGaladePablo@SerendipityWrk There may be multiple mechanisms involved in this process, like cell wall binding, vacuole sequestration, molecule complexation, etc. We hope to collaborate with professional microbiologists to figure it out in the future.
@JGaladePablo@SerendipityWrk The cells go into a cellular shape because they are stressed. But I have not made it clear why the stressed cells have better ability to remove copper ions.
