NIMR FORUM:
Crucial insights for future vaccine designs

Dr. Anneth-Mwasi Tumbo, representing the Immunology team at Ifakara and collaborators, discussed co-infections' impact on malaria vaccine effectiveness at a symposium addressing challenges and opportunities in malaria elimination by 2030, held during @NIMR_Tanzania’s 32nd AJSC.

She revealed that, on average, an adult African has ongoing asymptomatic viral infections during malaria vaccinations, impacting vaccine effectiveness. Dr. Tumbo urges consideration of these co-infections, like asymptomatic viruses, in malaria vaccine strategies for high-burden areas. 🦟💉

Ifakara Innovation Hub, partner announces second call for healthcare innovations

The @HubIfakara and its partner, the Partnership Forum (PDP) announced the launch of the 2024 PDP Call for Application yesterday, inviting #innovators with solutions to tackle #healthcare challenges.

The call is designed for Tanzanian innovators specializing in medical devices, digital solutions, healthcare systems, or related technologies. Successful applicants will be offered up to $5000 in seed funding and gain access to the PDP Incubation program and mentorship. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️
