Fascinated by this gentleman showcasing innovative indoor mosquito traps at the conference. All species of mosquitoes are caught by the same trap. Mosquitoes spread malaria, yellow & dengue fevers and chikungunya. @ifakarahealth@NIMR_Tanzania@NIMRTanga@NIMRMbeya@AfricaCDC
NIMR FORUM:
Crucial insights for future vaccine designs
Dr. Anneth-Mwasi Tumbo, representing the Immunology team at Ifakara and collaborators, discussed co-infections' impact on malaria vaccine effectiveness at a symposium addressing challenges and opportunities in malaria elimination by 2030, held during @NIMR_Tanzaniaโs 32nd AJSC.
She revealed that, on average, an adult African has ongoing asymptomatic viral infections during malaria vaccinations, impacting vaccine effectiveness. Dr. Tumbo urges consideration of these co-infections, like asymptomatic viruses, in malaria vaccine strategies for high-burden areas. ๐ฆ๐
