Be more generous than makes sense, more forgiving than is required, more hopeful than the facts dictate, more persevering than anybody deserves, all because the gospel is true
Michelle Obama on the portrait with Obama.
Q: You are in the foreground. You are not in the background.
Michelle: That's because I married a man who isn't threatened by having a smart challenging partner. And that's another way to be a man. To lead and co-lead at the same time. That's a testament to the way my husband was raised and how he sees the world.
We can’t wait to welcome you to the Obama Presidential Center. Tune in now to hear our remarks along with performances by artists and changemakers from around the world who will join us here on the South Side of Chicago. https://t.co/WvFn8i3IKM
Meet Carmela Enriquez: Colorado child care provider and community navigator
During Women’s History Month, Carmela is encouraging women in the child care field to be proud of their work. She believes women shouldn’t minimize what they do, but instead recognize the great impact they have on their communities.
Carmela also notes the dedication of and challenges faced by her peers; in her group of over 300 providers, many work second jobs to support their own families while caring for others.
Home Grown is proud to learn from Carmela and the millions of home-based child care providers who show up every day for our children and our communities.
I once helped someone apply for a job I really wanted.
We both went for the interview.
They got it. I didn’t.
I won’t lie — it hurt.
But months later, that same person called me and said,
“They’re opening another position. I recommended you.”
This time, I got the job.
What felt like a loss… was planting a seed.
Never regret helping someone grow.
Have you ever lost something that later made sense? 💛
Lately, I've noticed everybody looks OK until you eventually have a deep conversation with them. And then, you'll realize that, this is a sad generation of people struggling to survive through smiling faces and pretty pictures.
