Kenyan police cornered peaceful protesters in a blocked alley, beat them up, then teargassed them.

"Larry ukienda tutauliwa," one of them said. "If you leave, we'll get killed."

There are pockets of uniformed police officers standing on guard along the route being used by the protesters.

Overall, it is an organised demonstration and kudos to the police officers escorting the protesters.

I encountered protesters at Buxton. They are matching heading towards the CBD. The police are escorting the protesters. Police cars (GK number plates) are in front and in the rear of the matching crowd. There are journalists present.

Uniformed police officers are amongst the matching crowd. Uniformed police officers are guiding vehicles. The protesters are peaceful. They have greeted us and placed their placards on the vehicles. They are not harassing anybody.

I was in the Hall waiting for Echoes Of War but the girls did something which left everyone in the hall proud. They refused to perform!

They sang all the three stanzas of the National Anthem, then a very brave girl gave a speech and the girls left the stage.

God! That was heroic!

The girls were denied to rehearse with their teachers , their teachers were denied entry into the venue, the girls were denied the chance of performing with their backdrops, without audience and without soundtrack.

Stage walkout it was!
