‼️@NWSStLouis just canceled its participation in this morning's MO Severe Weather Preparedness Week Tornado Drill due to the possibility of severe weather. @NWSSpringfield had canceled its participation earlier because of severe storms, which the area is currently experiencing.
Today, in honor of Christian County Sheriff's Office Deputies Gabriel Ramirez and Michael Hislope, flags are be flown at half-staff at government buildings in Christian and Greene counties, all police stations, sheriffs’ offices, and Missouri State Highway Patrol general and troop headquarters across Missouri.
Bravery, dedication to duty, and service to others defined these fine men, who each defended our nation as soldiers before selflessly serving Christian County as deputy sheriffs.
Sadly, these courageous heroes lost their lives because of an evil, violent, career criminal who should not have been free to commit these heinous crimes. Claudia and I are keeping both families, the Christian County Sheriff's Office, and the entire law enforcement community in our prayers during this difficult time. Ramirez’s and Hislope’s legacies will not be forgotten.
We’re less than one week away from the Statewide Tornado Drill. Last year in Missouri was the deadliest year for tornadoes in 14 years. Tornado safety isn’t only about reacting in the moment... preparation ahead of time is equally essential. Our StormAware site has short videos that show how to protect yourself from severe weather in different scenarios - home, school, mobile home, etc. Check it out here: https://t.co/KN6fsHEIqn
