May 15 is 🇸🇴 Youth Day. Politicians should exchange ideas and engage in dialogue, not threaten one another.

At a time when opposition politicians and government officials are exchanging political threats, I call for dialogue and understanding instead of intimidation and division.

Our country needs mature politics built on discussion, stability, and unity. 🇸🇴

As diaspora returnees, the number one priority for us in Mogadishu is peace.

We invested our savings, opened businesses, purchased property, created jobs, and are raising young families here.

Our livelihoods are tied to the stability of Mogadishu.

Our children's future is tied to the success of Mogadishu.

That is why anything that threatens peace, security, and public confidence is a direct concern to us.

The irony is that many figures in the opposition are also diaspora returnees.

They understand the sacrifices people have made to come back and help rebuild Somalia.

Mogadishu deserves politics that encourages investment, protects stability, and gives people confidence to build their futures, not politics that creates uncertainty and fear.

The residents of this city have invested too much, sacrificed too much, and believed too much in Mogadishu's future to accept going backwards. 🇸🇴

Somali Civil Society Office @SONSA_NSA has issued a press release expressing deep concern over the recent armed clashes that took place in #Mogadishu involving forces of the Federal Government of Somalia (@SNAForce @SoPoliceForce) and some security personnel affiliated with the Somali Future Council.

@SONSA_NSA strongly condemned the violence and reiterated its longstanding position that political disagreements must be resolved through dialogue, mutual responsibility, and peaceful engagement rather than the use of force.

The civil society press release also conveyed condolences to the families of those injured and affected by the clashes, while calling for a transparent investigation into the incident and accountability for those responsible. @SONSA_NSA urged both the Federal Government and the Somali Future Council to urgently resume constructive political dialogue to peacefully address electoral and political disputes, prevent further instability, and safeguard Somalia’s peace, security, and democratic progress.

If the argument is that a single sub clan is fighting the entire state, then how do you explain the broad clan representation that exists across government institutions?

The reality is that the clan card has become a convenient political tool for some spoilers whenever they cannot win an argument on policy, governance, elections, or performance.
