Trees have a cooling effect, this is quite easy to understand.

But their effect is considerble, especially in summer's heat waves: they can reduce the cities' surface temperature in the summer by a significant level.

[Paul Graham @paulg]

This is a Republican senator saying this. I'm alarmed too. But also mystified. Why is Trump so eager to help Putin? I wish I could feel sure that this is simply ignorance and impulsiveness and not something more sinister.

Dragging chains can cause sparks and lead to wildfires. You can help prevent a wildfire by crossing chains properly when pulling a trailer.

«You have to really kind of think about our own existence here in the universe. You realize that people often say, 'I hope to go to heaven when I die' — In reality, if you think about it, you go to heaven when you're born»

The NFF completed 6,518 miles of trail work in 2022 (that’s over twice the width of the United States).

When you give $200 or more by 12/31 to help us continue this work, you'll receive an art print of a National Forest tree like this one.

6. @NationalForests is a leading partner of the U.S. Forest Service at the national and local levels. Given forests ' unique role in minimizing the effects of a changing climate, we will be called upon for an even larger role in the years ahead.

[Brian Jacobs @brianjacobsvc]

I wanted to figure out what I could do personally to change the current trajectory of climate change. I had an open mind and spent months understanding this multi-faceted problem. This thread discusses my conclusions:

2. There are many ways to direct our time and resources to fight climate change, but keeping our forests healthy is one of the most important, and it’s an underfunded priority. @NationalForests
