🚨 I'm starting to think Fable 5.5 could be Anthropic's HARDEST launch yet.

And honestly, OpenAI isn't even the problem here.

It's OPUS 5.5

Opus 5.5 is already so so good, and so much more efficient, that users have a real reason to stick with it.

And look at the prices:
→ Opus 5.5: $4/$20 per million tokens
→ Fable 5.1: $10/$50 per million tokens

That's a 2.5x price gap.

Now imagine Fable 5.5 launches and is only a little better than Opus.

Would you really pay 2.5× more for that?

That's the MESS Anthropic has to deal with.

It either needs to bring the price down...
Or make Fable 5.5 SO damn good that nobody cares about the premium price.

But a small upgrade won't cut it.

For once, Anthropic's biggest problem is not OpenAI.

But its own EFFICIENT model.

OpenAI, Anthropic, and honestly every major AI company desperately need a $50/month subscription tier.

There's a huge gap between $20 and $100. Millions of people can't justify spending $100/month on AI, but they're also frustrated by the limitations of their $20 plans.

Here's what I'd love to see:

→ A $50 tier with significantly more generous usage limits.
→ Better access to frontier models, without requiring a $100+ subscription.
→ More transparent usage tracking, predictable resets, and fewer frustrating 5-hour restrictions.
→ Flexible options to purchase additional usage without upgrading to an expensive plan.

And here's something even more important: as AI becomes more efficient and cheaper to run, those improvements should benefit everyone, including free and $20 users.

A $50 plan should bridge the gap, not become an excuse to make cheaper plans worse.

The future of AI shouldn't be reserved for people who can afford $100, $200, or $500 every month.

We need to make powerful AI more accessible, not just more powerful.
