Raising a collapsed nose of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
On 8 March 2018, Boeing 787-8 BBJ N507BJ suffered a nose gear collapse at Moses Lake, Washington, while undergoing maintenance and VIP conversion work. This was a result of the NLG downlock pin being accidentally installed in the apex pin inner bore, which is adjacent to the correct hole for the downlock pin in the NLG lock link assembly. When the gear-up command was issued, the nose gear retracted and the aircraft dropped onto its nose. The aircraft sustained significant damage to the forward fuselage and engines.
As a result, Boeing issued a service bulletin to mandate installing an insert into the NLG lock link apex pin inner bore. The insert prevents the NLG downlock pin from being inserted in the apex pin bore instead of the adjacent NLG downlock pin hole.

The death of the first flying wing
On this day in 1948: USAF prototype Northrop YB-49 [42-102368] a flying wing jet bomber, crashes in California (US) all 5 aboard die. The aircraft had a structural failure on a test flight. Enquiry stated that the outer wing sections detached when pulling from a dive, likely after an intentional stall.
Despite development work continuing for two more years, the YB-49 project would be canceled in the mid-1950s, in favor of more conventional designs. The flying wing concept only became practical with the advent of computers in the 1980s, with the B-2, whose advanced electronics compensated for the instability of the tailless aircraft.
As a memorial to the victims, Forbes AFB and Edwards AFB are named in honor, respectively, of the pilot (Major Daniel Forbes) and copilot (Capt Glen Edwards) who perished in this crash.

Welcome home! 🥳
A detachment of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 26 returned to Naval Station Norfolk today following a 10-month deployment to the Caribbean as part of the support of Operation Southern Spear, assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7).
Interesting cutaway view of prop pitch gears with a Bristol Centaurus sleeve valve radial engine that would eventually deliver over 3,000hp from its 18 cylinders with some models powering the Hawker Tempest II, Sea Fury and Bristol Brabazon. 😎
CENTCOM:
Moments ago, CENTCOM forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that were launched toward the Strait of Hormuz. The attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.
U.S. forces subsequently struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further attacks.
American forces remain vigilant and postured to respond to unjustified Iranian aggression in self-defense.
