@xctim95@neeratanden If you always think of Democrats as essentially Republicans it’s why they win and we don’t with silly purity tests. Either you want to live in a free country or you don’t.
Progressives are always saying that Democrats are constantly moving to the center but nobody can name an issue in which Democrats have moved right since 2016 to say nothing of 2006 or 1996.
This whole narrative is a generation out of date.
Imagine me saying I’d support a candidate who believed that my community should still be slaves, but as long as this person voted correctly in the House or Senate that’s cool.
I completely agree. Wanting universal healthcare is fine, wanting a green new deal is fine, but all these big pieces of legislation require winning elections, a lot them, and you have to win some of them back to back. You vote *for* things and you have to vote to protect them.
Left-wing populists will say that Democrats’ electoral vulnerabilities are on culture not economics and then nominate a bunch of (former?) police defunders.
