Work from Kenya - shows protective antibodies against falciparum malaria sporozoites work against sporozoites injected into the skin, not against sporozoites injected into veins. Why does this matter?

Very proud of our new @TrendsParasitol review on the complexities of ApiAP2 regulation in Plasmodium falciparum. Building on the legendary reviews by @Painter_Lab (2010) and @M4774R14 (2019)!! https://t.co/GnaThRDxMa
🆕 | @UofGSii's Professor Lilach Sheiner and Professor @PasqualeMaffia recently attended the Africa-Europe Clusters of Research Excellence Conference in South Africa to prove updates on the CoRE initiatives for which they serve as Directors.

MicroRNA genes have evolved and expanded within the genomes of multicellular organisms for over 500 million years.
Today, we know that there are more than a thousand genes for different microRNAs in humans, and that gene regulation by microRNA – discovered by this year’s medicine laureates – is universal among multicellular organisms.

Welcome back! VEuPathDB resources are back online today! We will continue to provide bioinformatics services under a new organizational structure. Read more here: https://t.co/YNX4KBuIxV
Full room at the BRC resources discussion #KMCB2024 by NIAID PO Brown & VEuPathDB PI Roos. Extreme dismay over global impact of NIAID decision, but sustained applause at news that VEuPathDB will return, through generosity of Fdn Adv Sci/Med, @open_phil@ChanZuckerberg Penn & UGA
Please check out this opportunity for young researchers to establish their lab @CIILofficiel on the @PasteurLille campus: incredible colleagues and a supportive environment.
This is what I got from Office of Genomics and Advanced technologies about the future of the resources currently in @veupathdb. Has a link to check for updates. Haven’t seen this information shared but I may have missed it. And I will miss @veupathdb
It is really a shame and a big blow to the parasitology community.
Sadly, it will impact mainly junior researchers who don't always have ways to access the data and/or the skills to perform the necessary pre-processing.
Feels like going back to the early 2000s ...
Looking for a postdoc position? Isabel Roditi is starting an awesome project in Würzburg, Germany!
I quote Isabel: “Just tell people how much easier it is to work with tryps than with Apicomplexa” 😉

Finally out @EmboMolMed: our study exploring a new way of experimental #vaccination for #malaria using attenuated #parasites and featuring antibodies, CD4 + CD8 T cells, interferon + interleukins. Soon we'll be immunologists; high time to start surfing: https://t.co/rozkhz1WBf
It looks like the @UofGMaths_Stats building got a little carried away with all its equations! ✍️
Graphics have been added to the building, which were generated by members of staff in the School of Mathematics & Statistics. They were asked to submit handwritten diagrams and equations used in their ongoing and current mathematical and statistical research.
Such a creative way to represent the research done in the School and a great 'addition' to campus! 🤩
