@engineers_feed The simplest way to think of this is which one moves the 10kg weight vertically upwards (against gravity) the least. In A, when you pull the rope 10cm, the 10kg weight moves 10cm upwards. In B, when you pull the rope 10cm, it moves less upwards. Therefore you need less force.

Any 'official experts' would need to have their views taken in context and in the absence of that it's ridiculous.

Proving my approach nicely. I deal with science & research. Link me to his actual op-ed and we'll look at the context, if you must.
