I congratulate Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed on his re-election. During his time in office, the Prime Minister has set the country on an irreversible course of change — the most notable being steps towards genuine federalism, religious freedom, and economic transformation.

The Prime Minister has also been the architect of major national initiatives that will benefit both current and future generations, including Green Legacy, urban redevelopment & renewal, security sector reform, and national programs on agriculture sector transformation, food security and self-reliance, as well as industrial capacity development.

The people of Somali Regional State, in particular, have a unique appreciation for and admiration of Dr. Abiy Ahmed and his tenure, a time when the region transitioned from being a human-abattoir to a region where its people live in peace and freedom.

Privileged to welcome PM Dr. Abiy Ahmed to Somali Region where he inaugurated the Godey Irrigation Infrastructure. The new 145km main & feeder canals, built with a cost of Birr 3b, will be able to irrigate 10,000 hectares. Also visited the smart pastoralist village in Godey.

Visited the ongoing 95km Godey-Qalaaf asphalt road. 65% of the road is completed and giving service. This road, even in its current status, is already facilitating the mov’t of agricultural produce from the highly fertile Qalafo district to Godey & the rest of the region.
