I had a stroke, my eyes turned red, steam came out of my ears just a few moments ago when I heard a student say that Gough Whitlam was sacked because he gave aboriginals too many rights
But to say she was somehow responsible for genocide or enslavement or whatever, the way some on here are, is just moronic. I would also ask some of these Johnny-come-lately critics to ask how much time they’ve spent planning out alternatives to monarchy and how we can get there.
I’ve been a big critic of the monarchy for nearly 20 years. There is a lot to criticize about the institution, and in some cases even the conduct of the Queen. But man, some folks on this site clearly know nothing about anything, and just want to hate a popular person who died.
Man people really think she personally pressed the "colonise world" button and didn't oversee nearly every overseas holding of the British Empire break away
@BChewyH@FalineButBrogle@prezoh As I said, the monarch represents the British nation and the authority and legitimacy of the state. She wasn't political and barely interacts politically beyond traditional rituals but still has sacred value as the national figurehead and head of state.
@BChewyH@FalineButBrogle@prezoh I mean if you ignore tradition, national culture and history, sure. Sounds like your grievances are primarily with your own people anyway
Once again,
Am*ricans will never understand
@BChewyH@FalineButBrogle@prezoh But was a figurehead, and carried a special sacred significance as the representation of the British nation
Am*ricans will never understand
I'm not sure if it came to me in a dream or not but I could have sworn I once read that Nursultan Nazarbayev or Tokayev wanted to change the name of Kazakhstan to "Kazakhyula" but I can't find any information or anything on it. I absolutely remember thinking it was a good idea
